UFC 179 Medical Suspensions: Phil Davis and Scott Jorgensen Could Be Out For Six Months

The Brazilian Athletic Commission of MMA (CABMMA) released the medical suspensions resulting from UFC 179: Aldo vs. Mendes 2 on Monday. Scott Jorgensen and Phil Davis were hit with the longest potential suspensions from the Oct. 25 event in Rio de Janeiro.

Featherweight champion Jose Aldo can’t compete for 60 days or have any contact for 45 days following his title defense.

Chad Mendes received the same suspension as Aldo. He can’t fight for 60 days or have any contact for 45 days.

Phil Davis must be cleared by an orthopedic surgeon for an injury to his right hand or be sidelined for 180 days.

Glover Teixeira was suspended for 45 days with no contact for 30 days following his loss to Davis.

Fabio Maldonado can’t compete for 30 days and can’t have any contact for three weeks.

Hans Stringer was suspended from fighting for 45 days with no contact for 30 days.

Darren Elkins is out of competition for 45 days and can’t have any contact for 30 days following his split decision win.

Lucas Martins received the same suspension as Elkins. He can’t fight for 45 days or have any contact for 30 days.

Beneil Dariush and his opponent Diego Ferreira were both suspended from fighting for 45 days with no contact for 30 days.

Neil Magny can’t take a fight before 30 days and can’t have any contact for three weeks following his record fifth win inside the octagon in a calendar year.

William Daffy Macario was suspended from fighting for 45 days and can’t have any contact for 30 days.

Yan Cabral is one of four fighters that received only a two-week medical suspension. He can’t have any contact for one week.

Naoyuki Kotani was suspended from competition for 30 days and can’t have any contact for 21 days.

Scott Jorgensen must be cleared by an orthopedic surgeon after having his rib x-rayed or face up to a six month suspension.

Wilson Reis was suspended for two weeks without contact for 7 days.

Felipe Arantes received a 30 suspension from fighting and can’t have any contact for three weeks.

Andre Fili can’t fight for 30 days or have any contact for 21 days following his unanimous decision win.

Gilbert Burns was suspended for two weeks from fighting and can’t have any contact for seven days.

Christos Giagos was suspended for 30 days and can’t have any contact for three weeks.

Fabricio Camoes received a 30-day suspension from competing and can’t have any contact for 21 days.

Tony Martin can’t fight for two weeks or have any contact for seven days.

UFC 179: Aldo vs. Mendes 2 took place on Oct. 25 at the Ginasio do Maracanazinho in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Jose Aldo defended his 145-pound title for the seventh consecutive time in the event’s featured attraction.
