UFC 180 Werdum vs. Hunt Weigh-in Results: No Struggles on the Scale

UFC 180 Werdum vs. Hunt Weigh-in Results: No Struggles on the Scale

UFC 180 in Mexico was supposed to feature two of the UFC's most popular fighters with a Mexican heritage: Cain Velasquez and Diego Sanchez. Due to numerous setbacks, both are now off the card, and we had a much different cast of characters weighing in on Friday afternoon in Mexico City.

Come Saturday, Fabricio Werdum will square off with Mark Hunt in the main event to battle for the interim UFC heavyweight championship, while Velasquez sits on the sideline watching, dealing with an injured knee.

Hunt teased leading up to the fight that he hadn't been training and would have a difficult time making weight. That may or may not have been the case, but he hit the mark at 265 pounds dead on. Werdum stepped on the scale at 232 pounds.

Neither fighter had much to say after stepping off the scale, although Werdum led the fans at the weigh-ins in song before saying, “This is a great night and I'm ready for it.”

Hunt had little more to say, “I think it's a great opportunity. I thank God upstairs for allowing me to be here. Thank you.”

The co-main event now features former welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger squaring up with The Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum.

The preliminary portion of the UFC 180 fight card, also features the featherweight and bantamweight finals of the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter Latin America.
