UFC 182 Results: Kyoji Horiguchi Picks Apart Louis Gaudinot for Unanimous Decision

At 24-years-old, Kyoji Horiguchi has emerged as a promising prospect in the 125-pound weight class. He extended his winning streak to nine in a row on Saturday by soundly defeating Louis Gaudinot on the UFC 182 main card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The former Shooto bantamweight champion, and No. 11 ranked UFC flyweight, has reeled off three consecutive wins since dropping to the flyweight division in May 2014.

As he typically does, Horiguchi utilized a lot of movement and speed to put together effective strikes without taking damage. He bounced on the outside as Gaudinot pressed forward. He moved in and out of the pocket, landing combinations while escaping Gaudinot’s counter attempts.

The opening round was competitive, but Horiguchi began to take over in the second frame. He staggered Gaudinot with a combination in the opening seconds of the round and ended the frame with a takedown.

Gaudinot continued to press forward throughout the bout trying to make something happen, but he couldn’t keep up with Horiguchi’s speed and movement. Horiguchi landed at three times the rate of Gaudinot.

After fifteen minutes of fighting, the judges scored the fight for Horiguchi by unanimous decision. Two of the three judges scored him winning all three round.

The win moved Horiguchi’s record to 15-1, and in a position to likely face a top ten ranked opponent in his next outing.
