UFC Brazil Fighter Bonuses: Almeida and Gorman Earn Fight of the Night

After UFC Fight Night 55 in Sydney set a record with 11 finishes in 11 fights on Friday night, UFC Fight Night 56 in Brazil in Saturday night had a lot to live up to. While there were several decisions, there were still several outstanding performances by fighters that earned $50,000 post-fight bonuses.

The second fight of the night went the distance, but it wasn’t for a lack of Thomas Almeida and Tim Gorman trying to finish the fight. In fact, Gorman was all over Almeida in the opening moments of the fight, going after chokes and then busting up his eye. Almeida, however, not only fought his way back into the fight, he eventually scored a unanimous nod from the judges.

Almeida and Gorman were rewarded for their efforts with the Fight of the Night honors.

After he knocked out former UFC and Pride champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in 34 seconds, Ovince St. Preux was a lock for one of the two Performance of the Night awards.

While he lost his UFC debut in September, Leandro “Buscape” Silva made up for it on Saturday night with a first-round submission of Charlie Brenneman that earned him the other Performance of the Night bonus.
