UFC Fight Night 58 Fighter Bonuses: No Fight of the Night, But Four Performance Winners
The Ultimate Fighting Championship usually hands out a Fight of the Night award and two Peformance of the Night bonuses followed each event. No Fight of the Night was honored at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Dollaway in Brazil on Saturday. Instead, the promotions named four Fight of the Night winners. Lyoto Machida, Renan Barao, Erick Silva and Vitor Miranda banked the $50,000 performance incentives.
Machida earned his bonus by dispatching C.B. Dollaway early in the opening round of the main event. “The Dragon” delivered a kick to the body that Dollaway was unable to absorb. The former light heavyweight champion quickly finished the fight with a series of punches as Dollaway could only turtle up and cover.
Silva added another first round finish to his resume by submitting Mike Rhodes in main card action. The Brazilian took Rhodes down and quickly submitted him with an arm-triangle choke to earn his Performance of the Night award.
Miranda fought his former training partner and roommate, Jake Collier, in the opening bout of the card. The two engaged in a firefight of fists and kicks. Late in the opening round, Collier unloaded a high kick that Miranda blocked. Miranda unleashed one of his own that found its mark. Collier staggered and Miranda went in for the kill, finishing with punches to secure a bonus.
