UFC on Fox 13 Medical Suspensions: Eight Fighters Could be Sidelined for Six Months

Write it Down, Junior dos Santos Will be UFC Champion Again

The Arizona Boxing and MMA Commission released the medical suspensions stemming from UFC on Fox 13, which took place on Dec. 13, 2014 at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix.

Eight fighters, including former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos were suspended for six-months in the wake of the event.

MMAWeekly.com reached out to the Arizona Boxing and MMA Commission for the salaries, but did not receive a response before this report. MMAFighting.com first reported news of the suspensions.

UFC on Fox 13 Medical Suspensions

Junior dos Santos received a 180-day suspension or provide a negative CT scan. He can’t have any contact for 45 days due to a laceration to his right eyebrow.

Stipe Miocic was suspended for 45 days for a cut to his upper lip and can’t have any contact for 30 days.

Nate Diaz received a 45-day suspension for cuts to the bridge of his nose and right eyelid.

Stefan Struve was suspended for 45 days and needs to be cleared by an orthopedic surgeon. He can’t have contact for 30 days.

Matt Mitrione was suspended for 180 days, or has to provide a negative image of his right wrist.

Gabriel Gonzaga received a 45-day suspension after being knocked out and can’t have contact for 30 days.

Claudia Gadelha was suspended for 60 days due to a laceration to her right eyebrow. She can’t have contact for 45 days.

John Moraga faces a 180-day suspension, or provide negative image of his right hand and right wrist.

Willie Gates was suspended for 30 days due to a cut to his left eyebrow. He can’t have contact for 21 days.

Joe Rigg faces a 180-day suspension, or provide MRI for neck injury.

Jamie Varner was suspended for 180 days, or provide negative image for right hand and right foot. He retired following the event.

Joe Ellenberger received a 180-day suspension, or get orthopedic clearance for his right hand and right elbow.

David Michaud was suspended for 30 days due to a cut to his right eyebrow. He can’t have contact for three weeks.

Garett Whiteley received a 30-day suspension for a laceration to his left ear and can’t have contact for three weeks.

Henry Cejudo was suspended for 180 days, or provide negative image for right hand and right foot.

Dustin Kimura was suspended for 45 days due to a cut to his right eyebrow and can’t have any contact for 30 days.

Anthony Birchak received a 180-day suspension, or provide MRI for his right knee and right ankle.
