The Waltham Forest London 2012 Live Site will give fans in the East London borough a chance to soak up the Olympic spirit during the Games, from 27th July to 12th August. The Live Site in the town square has been organised in collaboration with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and will broadcast live coverage from the BBC and Channel 4.

After the Olympics it will also be open for the London 2012 Paralympic Games from 29th August to 9th September. In addition, ahead of the Games, the Olympic Torch Relay will visit Waltham Forest on Saturday 21st July, with an Olympic Torch evening celebration scheduled to mark the event.

As part of LOCOG’s ‘Join In’ campaign the Live Sites aim to give local communities, such as Waltham Forest, a chance to become part of the Olympic experience and bring fans together to follow the action live on giant screens.

The Opening and Closing Ceremonies (on 27th July and 12th August), the final of the men’s football tournament (11th August) and the men’s 100m final (5th August) will be amongst the highlights and are sure to create a vibrant atmosphere within the Live Site.

There will be further celebrations at Olympic ‘Live Sites’ in numerous other locations across London, including Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Victoria Park, Potters Fields and Woolwich, and around the rest of the UK in city centres and beyond – with Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Plymouth amongst the cities joining the London 2012 party.
