Freund followed up his second place in Hinzenbach on Sunday, in his first event of the season, with jumps of 137m and 136.5m to take the victory.

His total of 272.5 was 5.7 points better than Japan's Taku Takeuchi with Thomas Morgenstern in third, a further 0.9 points back.

World champion Morgenstern was also competing in just his second event of the year.

Wank was only 15th but still became just the second German winner of the Summer Grand Prix since it was first arranged in 1994.

The 24-year-old from Halle won the third round in Hinterzarten and did the double the following week in Hakuba.

He led Jurij Tepes by 87 points entering the final round and the Slovene could only finish eighth.

Wank amassed 449 points from seven of the nine events. Tepes was second with 378 and Takeuchi third on 352.

The World Cup season starts in Lillehammer on November 23.
