Warner credits Mark Taylor for helping him 'mature'

Sydney, Oct 11 (ANI): Controversial Australian batsman David Warner has said former Test captain Mark Taylor has helped him realise that he needs to grow up and stop taking his game for granted. Handed a one-match suspended ban for failing to turn out for the second day of a Sydney grade game at the weekend as directed, Warner was also fined for a Twitter spat with cricket journalists in May before punching England opener Joe Root in a Birmingham pub cost him his place in the Champions Trophy squad and two Ashes lead-up games. According to News.com.au, Warner admitted that a frank discussion with Taylor reinforced the fact that he had probably been a 'pest' in the past and made him realise that he needed to pull his head in to regain batting form and avoid squandering his talent. Stating that he has now finally had his share of troubles, Warner said that he is now focused on moving forward and getting on with cricket and trying to be a mature adult, adding that he needs to stop taking things for granted and settle down and work hard at the game. According to Warner, as he is not getting younger, he is hoping that he can leave this game in 10 years as a person to be remembered in a good way and be a role model for others like Taylor, Steve Waugh, Allan Border, Ricky Ponting.
