Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson will not compromise on the quality of player he wants to sign this summer despite the financial constraints at Bramall Lane.

The club's failure to bounce straight back to the npower Championship last season has forced Wilson to wheel and deal in the transfer market, but despite the recent departure of defender Matt Lowton to Aston Villa, the Blades boss insists he has not been forced to sell any of his players.

"There's no pressure, but if they're about we'll listen to offers," Wilson said. "We've got to be transparent about this. Everybody's got to understand where we're coming from.

"The club will be making cutbacks and we have to be ready for those challenges and the players we hope to bring in have to be of a quality that will keep Sheffield United at the top of that league.

"We're not going to bring in any Tom, Dick or Harry just to make the numbers up. We want the quality that befits the club, the fans and a style of play that we've tried to play in these last 12 months.

"That won't change. You have to remember that the players who become available up and down the country are having problems getting clubs and the wages they expect to get, they're not getting them, so there's still a few out there and let's hope we can nick one or two."
