Wilson disappointed with Tanak

M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson has called on Ott Tanak to up his performance after the Estonian's disappointing result on last week's Rally Argentina.

M-Sport driver Tanak finished in 10th place, but Wilson was unhappy with a first-day performance which culminated in him going off the road and retiring on SS4.

"I have to say I was really disappointed with Ott," said Wilson. "The target was to finish, but on the first three stages of the rally he had three self-inflicted incidents, which were all disappointing."

Tanak suffered a puncture on stage two, steering damage on stage three and he went off the road on SS4.

"His primary objective on the rally was to finish, that was what we had discussed and agreed," continued Wilson.

"Argentina is a very long rally, the longest, and it's a rally that is going to remain in the championship, so it was important to get good experience of these stages. It was certainly not a rally where we needed to see his pace."

Wilson denied there was any question marks over Tanak completing the season with M-Sport, but he added that he wanted to see an improvement from him.
