Inspection of 2013 WU ice hockey venues

Sergio Anesi, the President of the Trentino OC, warmly welcomed the FISU Technical Delegates and the inspection visit started with the women’s ice hockey competition venue. One arena will be dedicated for exclusive use to competition and training, and will accommodate up to a maximum of 8 women’s teams in the Pergine Valsugana ice rink. The distance from Trento city to this arena is 10km.

After this inspection visit, the delegates continued their visit to the men’s ice hockey competition venues. There will be two dedicated arenas for exclusive use to the men’s ice hockey tournament. One of them has a 4,000 seating capacity, i.e. the Canazei ice rink in Val di Fassa, and another ice rink in Cavalese can accommodate up to 1,200 spectators. The distance from Trento to the Canazei ice rink is 90km, while the distance between the Cavalese ice rink and Trento is 45km.

All the existing facilities were carefully inspected by the FISU Technical Delegates. This inspection visit gave the competition and venue managers in each ice rink an opportunity to have a first contact with the FISU Technical Delegates. Furthermore, they had a chance to discuss many different aspects in order to ensure the smooth preparations of the 2013 WU Trentino, which will take place from 11 to 21 December 2013.

The 2nd CTI meeting will take place in Trentino in February 2013.
