World Series of Fighting 3 Medical Suspensions: Josh Burkman Out Until September

All World Series of Fighting 3 Athletes Drug Tested; All Return Clean Results

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday released the World Series of Fighting 3: Fitch vs. Burkman medical suspensions to MMAWeekly.com.

Main event winner Josh Burkman injured his hand in his 41-second submission of Jon Fitch. He received a minimum suspension until Sept. 13, and needs to have his hand cleared by an orthopedic doctor.

Burkman hinted at the injury in a post-fight interview with MMAWeekly.com, saying that him being sidelined would give WSOF officials time to determine a suitable opponent for his next fight, which is expected to be for the promotion's first welterweight championship.

Brian Cobb, Jeff Smith, Lyle Beerbohm, and Kendrick Miree all could potentially be on the sidelines until December, unless they gain medical clearance for their injuries.

WSOF 3 took place Friday, June 14, at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
