XFC Filing Lawsuit Against World Series of Fighting on Eve of WSOF 15

Kalindra Faria is set to challenge Jessica Aguilar for her World Series of Fighting strawweight championship on Saturday night in Tampa, Fla., but the bout has put the promotion in a fight of its own.

XFC officials on Friday released a statement to MMAWeekly.com, claiming that Faria is still under an exclusive contract with them, and that they made it clear to WSOF officials that the fighter was under contract.

Since WSOF went ahead with the fight, XFC president Myron Molotky on Friday issued a statement, declaring that XFC is filing suit against WSOF over the matter.

“XFC has an exclusive contract with Ms. Kalindra Faria, which XFC provided to WSOF. Not withstanding the clear terms of Ms. Faria’s exclusive contract with XFC, WSOF has made it clear it intends to proceed with Ms. Faria’s bout planned for this weekend.

There is no question that XFC has a valid contract with Ms. Faria and that her fighting in a WSOF match this weekend violates XFC’s rights under that contract.

As a consequence of WSOF’s actions, XFC is filing suit against WSOF today in the United States District Court in Tampa. XFC is seeking to enforce its rights to the fullest extent of the law.”

World Series of Fighting officials were not immediately available for comment at the time of publication.
