Younis inspires Pak to an epic win against Lanka

Pallekele (Sri Lanka), July 7 (ANI): Younis Khan's unbeaten 171 helped Pakistan clinch a historic seven wicket win against Sri Lanka on the final day of the third Test, thereby winning the three-match series 2-1. Chasing down the target of 377, Pakistan lost only three wickets and recorded their highest chase in Test cricket. It was also the second highest fourth inning chase in Asia for any side, and the sixth-highest in all Test cricket. The win required a fourth innings partnership of 242 between Younis and Shan Masood, the latter falling on the morning of the fifth day for 125. When skipper Misbah-ul-Haq arrived, only 122 runs were needed, and he saw off Sri Lanka's pacers till lunch, trotting to an unbeaten 59 and finishing the match with a six. Younis Khan was named man of the match while spinner Yasir Shah was named man of the series. The two teams will now face each other in the five-match ODI series starting from July 10. (ANI)
