    • 80' France try and run down the clock… It’s just not meant to be for the English. Bam! Whacked into the crowd as the clock ticks over 80 minutes! The hosts win a thrilling contest 26-24.
    • 79' France swarm over England as they bottle it in possession. They force a scrum. Surely that will be that.
    • 78' CONVERSION FRANCE! 24-26! England need a drop goal or a penalty...
    • 77' TRY FRANCE! 24-24! France spray it out to the left where Gael Fickou waits. The replacement throws in a clever dummy and goes under the posts as the Stade de France erupts!
    • 76' Nyanga leads a France break out... They have men over on the left... Can they capitalise?
    • 75' Five minutes to go. France have the put-in, deep inside their own half. Can England keep the scrum upright?
    • 74' England turn the ball over with Vunipola leading the charge out. Oh, nightmare. It all comes to an end with Owens' whistle. France survive.
    • 73' PENALTY ENGLAND! 19-24! Goode smashes it through the middle.
    • 72' Vunipola wriggles through a couple of challenges. His drive is halted but it doesn't matter - England have a penalty of their own!
    • 70' PENALTY FRANCE! 19-21! Maxime Machenaud sends his penalty through the posts. France are within a kick of the English. We're set for a rather entertaining finale.
    • 69' Scrum one: collapses. Scrum two: Infringement from Dan Cole... Penalty!
    • 68' England think they've stolen back possession but Owens signals for a knock on. Robshaw the guilty party. France will have the put-in.
    • 67' More problems for England at the scrum hands France the chance to kick downfield and start a late assault.
    • 66' Into the final 15 minutes. With the gap at five points, you can bet England will be lining up Farrell for the drop goal at every opportunity.
    • 65' The incident appears to have affected England's concentration as they proceed to lose a line out on the France five metre line. Big chance wasted.
    • 64' Brown and Huget share a little moment before Nigel Owens marches in and tells them they're both being very immature.
    • 63' France enjoying a spell of possession after a pretty shaky few minutes. They look shattered to be honest.
    • 61' Care looks deflated as he's taken off on the hour mark – probably more out of exhaustion than any ill feelings to Stuart Lancaster. He's had a blinding second half.
    • 59' England work a clever scrum and the ball breaks to Vunipola who finds Care. Chance for England to drive at the opposition defence again but France are resilient to their latest effort.
    • 58' There wasn't an awful amount of elevation on the drop goal attempt but England and Care won't care one bit.
    • 57' DROP GOAL ENGLAND! 16-21! Owens signals for an England penalty but, instead of running down the advantage, Care takes a stab at bagging a drop goal... It rockets off his boot and over! Great effort.
    • 55' It's England's turn to attack again. They look far more comfortable with the ball in hand and, even more surprisingly, aren't kicking anywhere near as often.
    • 53' France have men over on the left but a slight slowing of play means the chance vanishes.
    • 51' Care charges down a kick but can't bring the bouncing ball under his spell. Almost a fourth try for England.
    • 50' This is turning into a brutal contest. Ogier flies down the right, sensing a hat-trick, before passing inside to Wesley Forfana. Great chance to score... Brown gets back to steal the ball.
    • 49' CONVERSION ENGLAND! 16-18! Farrell pops it between the posts and the turnaround is complete!
    • 48' TRY ENGLAND! 16-16! The space appears as Vunipola leads another England charge. He plays it inside to Luther Burrell who has the easy task of going over.
    • 46' England flood forward again. This time, though, they concede a penalty for holding on. France clear to touch and slowly saunter downfield.
    • 45' Dulin tries a sneaky grubber kick but his charge is halted by a clever block. Was that illegal? Owens says no.
    • 44' PENALTY ENGLAND! 16-11! Farrell splits the posts with a wonderful kick from out wide.
    • 43' NO TRY! Near impossible decision for the video bloke, and he decides that England were just short of the line. We're going back for an earlier penalty.
    • 43' TRY REVIEW! England and Danny Care think they've grounded the ball, but Nigel Owens is unconvinced and we're going to the video referee.
    • 42' Bright start from England with Brown, Billy Vunipola and Goode all skipping past blue shirts and gaining ground.
    • 41' We're back!
    • 40' Farrell lurks in drop goal territory. It's worked to the fly-half but his attempt is rather disappointing. That's our lot for half number one. France lead 16-8.
    • 39' England quickly transfer the ball from left to right. It's turning into a bit of a scrap. Can the visitors find a late score?
    • 38' CONVERSION MISSED (ENGLAND): Farrell can't find the posts from out wide. The gap remains at eight.
    • 37' TRY ENGLAND! 16-8! Brown got enough downward pressure on the ball. It's his first England try on his 22nd appearance.
    • 36' TRY REVIEW. England win a penalty but, instead of taking the three points, Danny Care takes it quickly and glides through the French defence. It breaks to Mike Brown on the left who bundles the ball over... Did he ground it though? We're going to the video referee.
    • 35' England are camped on the edge of the French try line. Or they were, but France turnover and clear.
    • 33' England attempt to start driving forward in a maul position but the hosts stand firm. Chris Robshaw gains his nation a few more yards with a solo burst. Better from England.
    • 32' Yannick Nyanga breaks through the England backline but doesn't possess the speed to charge away from the pursuing pack.
    • 30' France shift it left, then right, then left again... Dulin displays some nifty footwork to knock the ball down the flank - it loops up into the air, collides with the corner post and bounces out of play. If that had bounced infield, we would have had another French try.
    • 29' Oh dear. England having all sorts of problems in the scrum as referee Owens awards the hosts another penalty.
    • 27' Sloppy period from both sides as they trade knock-ons. Still, England have the put-in in a very tasty position. A score in the next few minutes would be very welcome.
    • 26' Alex Goode rides a couple of challenges inside the French twenty two but the third sends him sprawling to the deck and frees the ball from his clutches.
    • 25' England need a spell of possession to unsettle this rampant French side. And this might be it as they start racking up the phases.
    • 24' Jules Plisson horribly skews a kick downfield. Will it go dead? Not quite. Let off for France.
    • 22' PENALTY FRANCE! 16-3! Sweetly struck from Doussain and the lead increases to 13.
    • 21' Further turmoil for the English as they needlessly collapse a scrum. Doussain will go for the posts.
    • 20' Action resumes with an England line out. The visitors have it all to do and aren't helping themselves with some shoddy kicking.
    • 19' Nigel Owens brings play to a halt as a proper scrap kicks off.
    • 18' MISSED CONVERSION (FRANCE): Doussain misses his second kick of the match. England fortunate to be only 10 behind.
    • 17' TRY FRANCE! 13-3! Great work from the French pack forces a turnover which allows them to swarm forward. Huget shifts it inside to Dulin who attempts to return the favour with a chip over the England defence. It looks like the visitors can sweep up but two white shirts completely misread the bounce... Huget darts in... And goes over!
    • 16' France boom the ball down the park and England have lost 50 yards. The visitors come again...
    • 15' England starting to grow into this contest. It's launched into the French sky and it becomes a personal battle between Brice Dulin and Jack Nowell. The latter clatters the former illegally and France have a penalty.
    • 14' Great work from Courtney Lawes helps England steal the ball from the French throw. It comes to Billy Twelvetrees who has a chance to drive at the French try line but, somewhat rashly, elects to kick. Don’t understand that. He had men outside.
    • 12' It’s been a really sloppy opening from England as a stray kick invites more French pressure. Tom Wood marshals the ball into touch. Line out France.
    • 11' PENALTY FRANCE! 8-3! Doussain finds the middle of the posts and France's five-point lead is restored.
    • 10' There's no respite for England as they concede another penalty. Jean-Marc Doussain has the chance to atone for his earlier miss.
    • 9' Farrell has the chance to smash the ball downfield but slices his clearance. France have a line out ominously close to the England try line.
    • 7' A crossfield kick causes all sorts of problems in the England defence. It almost bounces into the hands of Maxime Medard but England escape.
    • 6' PENALTY ENGLAND! 5-3! Beautifully struck from Farrell and England are on the scoreboard. This has all the makings of a classic and we’re six minutes in…
    • 4' Boos ring out in the Stade de France as Nigel Owens adjudges that the hosts have committed an infringement. England penalty.
    • 3' England attempt to put their nightmare opening behind them and put the French defence under pressure.
    • 2' MISSED CONVERSION (FRANCE): The kick sails wide of the posts. Nice, quiet start...
    • 1' TRY FRANCE! France 5-0 England. Jules Plisson's kick loops into the air and Yoann Huget scampers in pursuit... The Frenchman claims and drives at the England try line and goes over as the clock ticks to just 30 seconds. Wow.

    • 16:55 The sides walk out to a cacophony of noise in the Stade de France. Epic, movie-style music blares out from the sound system. It’s time for the anthems…
    • 16:50 As thoughts start to shift towards the 2015 World Cup, both France and England know that now would be a good time to build some consistency. It truly is the most open tournament in years and with Wales looking a bit ropy, the opportunity is there for one of these two to assert themselves as the ones to beat.
