    • Ireland
    • 80' And that is it... it's a penalty to Ireland. O'Driscoll boots the ball out and the final whistle blows. A famous victory for Ireland, Australia haven't got a bonus point, and this group has been turned on it's head. The Irish party will go on in Auckland for some time I think.
    • 80' The atmosphere in the stadium is superb. Australia are running everything. They are at halfway. We're in injury time. This is it.
    • 79' The ball is spilled as Australia run it and Conor Murray picks up and crosses for what he thinks is a try. The whistle has already gone, no try.
    • 78' Big scrum on the Ireland line. Australia need something now. They go for the line... the pass goes left... and there's Tommy Bowe with the interception. Incredible. He runs the length of the field and O'Connor chases back to take him out of play in the Aussie 22.
    • 77' Australia subs: Samo & Fainga'a off, Mitchell & Higginbotham on. Ireland sub: Tom Court on, Ross off.
    • 76' We've still got a scrum near the Ireland 5m line. Genia finds a gap and is hauled down just, and only just, before the line. Can Ireland hang on? Desperate defence here.
    • 75' Ireland sub: Kearney off, Trimble on.
    • 74' Australia go from one side to the other, desperately trying to claw their way back into the game. They get to the corner but a pass is loose and goes out of play. Frustrating.
    • 73' Australia sub: Elsom off, Wycliff Palu on.
    • 72' Ireland's defence has been impressive against this glittering backline. Beale tries to get through a gap but Sexton tackles him and rips the ball out of his grasp. Scrum Ireland.
    • 70' Australia 6-15 Ireland PENALTY Ireland! O'Gara nails it. The crowd go nuts. This is going to be some 10 minutes.
    • 69' Ireland's scrum is most definitely dominating. There's a scrum on the Australia 5m line and Ireland power forward. Australia collapse. Penalty Ireland, O'Gara to kick.
    • 67' The rain is pouring down now. A wonderful up and under from Ireland causes all sorts of mayhem in the Aussie defence. They can't collect it. Kearney hacks on and Ireland pile towards the line. Mike Ross goes for glory but is hauled down and Cian Healy then loses the ball in contact. Moment gone.
    • 66' Ireland edge their way into the Australia half. Picking and going and importantly, winding down the clock.
    • 65' Australia only have 15 minutes to rescue this and they up the pace, getting inside Ireland territory. However, Genia and Sekope Kepu get in a muddle near a ruck and they are penalised for crossing. O'Gara clears to touch.
    • 64' Australia sub: Ben Alexander off, James Slipper on.
    • 63' Australia 6-12 Ireland PENALTY Ireland! Massive three points. O'Gara's kick is true and Ireland's lead is now six.
    • 62' The scrums are being set and re-set. Ireland's front row eventually get the shove on, Australia's pack go to ground, and we have another kick - O'Gara to take it.
    • 60' Ireland have a scrum now inside the Australia half. Before it is taken, O'Driscoll has to leave the field as blood is pouring from a cut in his head. He goes off to get it patched up, Andrew Trimble comes on, and Earls moves to outside centre for the time being.
    • 59' Ireland sub: Eoin Reddan off, Conor Murray on.
    • 58' The scrum is solid, solid enough for Ireland to launch an attack from underneath their own posts. Bowe has space in front of him but his kick through is deflected into touch by Cooper at halfway. O'Gara is now in the 10 position, Sexton at 12.
    • 57' Ireland scrum on their own 5m line, this is an important period of the game.
    • 56' Good read by O'Driscoll as he predicts the back-line move to dump his man to the floor. Australia retain the ball and go right, they are near the corner but Cooper's deft pass - out of the back of the hand - goes forward. Chance gone.
    • 55' Australia are deep in Ireland territory. Beale and O'Connor have the ball in hand, this could be dangerous.
    • 54' Ireland have possession and after Heaslip charges into the Australia defence, the Irish are penalised for not joining a ruck properly. Australia will be very pleased to clear.
    • 53' Sexton's kick comes off the posts and back into play. Agony for Ireland, relief for Australia. That was a big call to keep Sexton kicking.
    • 51' Big moment for the Irish scrum as again the Australians are moved backwards. Suddenly there are some worried faces among the Wallabies. Penalty Ireland. Sexton to kick.
    • 50' And Ronan O'Gara comes on... but it's not for Sexton, it's for D'Arcy - who may be injured. Who will take the fly-half jersery?
    • 49' Australia 6-9 Ireland PENALTY Ireland! Sexton needed that, and so did Ireland. The kick goes through the posts and Ireland lead again.
    • 48' Ireland now come forward, probing through Reddan. O'Brien charges into a wall of gold and Horwill is penalised for coming into the side of the ruck. Pretty blatant really. Sexton to go for goal.
    • 47' Flanker Rocky Elsom, formally of Leinster, wins the line-out for his team and Quade Cooper can clear.
    • 46' D'Arcy and centre partner O'Driscoll are lining up an international record 45th time together, overtaking the centre record set by England's Will Carling and Jeremy Guscott.
    • 45' Ireland win back possession and a cheeky grubber from Gordon D'Arcy to Tommy Bowe on the wing dribbles into touch in the Australia 22.
    • 44' Ireland have a scrum in their own 22 and it is their turn to come under some pressure. They keep it the ball but Sexton has no choice but to boot it long.
    • 43' Beale, Australia's player of the year, has space in front of him down the left. He is tackled but offoads to Ashley-Cooper although the winger's pass goes to ground and Ireland snaffle it up.
    • 42' Ireland are deep in their own half and it is fed back to Kearney but he aimlessly boots it downfield to Cooper and Australia can counter.
    • 41' Big up and under from Kearney early on but that is well collected by Australia and after a maul goes nowhere, they get the scrum.
    • 41' Here we go then, the second 40 minutes. Remember that Australia were 6-6 at half-time in their opening game against Italy and ended up winning 32-6. Let's see what happens today, Ireland kick off through Sexton.
    • 40' Ireland are not making any headway as Australia's defence are holding strong and after a messy ruck, referee Lawrence blows for half time. This is an absorbing contest, make sure you do not miss the second half.
    • 39' Another monster scrum from the Irish. Ireland turn the Wallabies and as Genia tries to pick up from the base, he is picked up and marched backwards by Stephen Ferris. Ireland scrum on the Aussie 22.
    • 38' This is catching. From the resulting penalty line-out, Rory Best's throw is not straight and it's Australia's turn to have a scrum.
    • 37' Another good scrum from Ireland. Australia's pack go backwards, then down on the floor, and Ireland get the penalty.
    • 36' A line-out to Australia in Ireland's half, a chance to build some pressure here, but the throw is deemed not straight.
    • 35' Ireland are keeping in tight through their forwards, picking and going to minimal effect. From a ruck, Eoin Reddan bumps into a stricken James Horwill and then drops the ball. Scrum to Australia.
    • 34' Australia make a horlicks of the drop out, they knock on and Ireland have a scrum very near the 22.
    • 33' And that's another miss for Sexton, he really should be nailing these.
    • 32' Great scrum for Ireland. Australia collapse it and the Irish front row are all given a pat on the back. Sexton will go for goal.
    • 30' Sexton produces a massive up and under, Quade Cooper rises up to take it but knocks on. Ireland scrum on the 40m.
    • 29' Loads of scrums going on at the minute. Ireland's scrum is strong and eventually the ball is given to Kearney for a charge down the blind-side.
    • 28' Australia come forward but O'Connell produces a fine tackle, wrapping his man up, and Ireland win a turnover.
    • 27' This one is to the left of the posts, on the 40m line. It's tricky and O'Connor pushes it slightly right. A let off for Ireland.
    • 26' Silly penalties from Ireland could be costly. As Cooper gets a half break after a cheeky side-step, Jamie Heaslip is penalised at the ruck. O'Connor to go for goal.
    • 25' A bit of history for you. Australia and Ireland have met each other in four World Cup matches. Ireland have lost all of these four meetings, but have twice gone down by only one point, in the 1991 World Cup and in the pool stages of 2003.
    • 24' Australia 6-6 Ireland PENALTY Australia! From just outside the 22, O'Connor gets the three points. Match level. Game on.
    • 23' Australia win the resulting line-out and with the help of Cooper and Beale, they begin to inch their way into the Irish half. Flanker Sean O'Brien is penalised for offside, penalty kick for O'Connor.
    • 22' Good, solid scrum from Ireland in their own half and they can clear to touch.
    • 20' Australia have had 64% of the territory and 52% of the possession in the opening quarter.
    • 19' Beale with yet another up and under, Kearney is going to field a lot of these today, but it's too long and the Irish full-back collects it. Ireland muck around in their own 22 and Beale tries to kick through. The men in green tidy it up, though.
    • 18' Australia 3-6 DROP-GOAL Ireland! The chant of "Ireland, Ireland" starts to ring around Eden Park as the pressure builds. Ireland have the penalty advantage but they don't need it ans Sexton nails the drop. Ireland lead.
    • 17' Ireland have their tails up. From the re-start, Kearney, O'Connell and Earls all burst through the gain line. They are up to the 22. Australia's turn to defend.
    • 16' Australia 3-3 Ireland PENALTY Ireland! No worries this time. Sexton keeps it low and drills it through the posts.
    • 15' Kick through from Sexton, and Will Genia cleans up. However, play is brought back, Rocky Elsom infringed. Sexton to go for goal again.
    • 14' Good take from Kearney at the re-start and Ireland come again. Great offload from Rory Best to Brian O'Driscoll, Ireland are in Aussie territory.
    • 13' Jonny Sexton's radar wasn't really working against the USA and he misses his first kick here. That was straightforward. He will need to settle down quickly.
    • 12' Australia looking to run again from the re-start. Ireland's defence is working hard and when Paul O'Connell puts in a big hit on James Horwill, the men in green swarm all over the ruck. Horwill is penalised for not releasing the ball. Ireland go for goal.
    • 11' Australia 3-0 Ireland PENALTY Australia! One of the easiest kicks O'Connor will ever have to take. Right in front of the posts, and he smacks it through the uprights.
    • 10' We are still scrummaging underneath the posts. Ireland's front row fall to the fall and it's a penalty to Australia.
    • 8' Australia pile forward, these are testing times for Ireland. Australia scrum on the 5m line. Beale actually collected his own up and under there, superb.
    • 7' Brilliant take from Beale in the air, as if he would do anything else, and then offloads. Australia attack again.
    • 6' The recalled James O'Connor steps up to take the kick from out near the touchline. He pulls it, though, and Ireland breathe again.
    • 5' Good first scrum for Australia. The ball goes left and Cooper sells a dummy, and dives through a gap, he really is a danger man, but Gordon D'Arcy takes him down. Rob Kearney is penalised for a high tackle on Kurtley Beale off the ball, penalty Australia.
    • 4' Ireland are enjoying a bit of possession early on. The passing execution is not how it should be and after Jamie Heaslip takes the ball into contact, Australia's forwards snaffle it up at the breakdown.
    • 2' Intent from Ireland. They run it from deep and soon find themselves deep in Australia territory. A kick through is a little too long, though, and can be touched down in goal.
    • 2' Australia win their line-out and as they maul their way over the 22, Ireland stop the rumble and get a free kick which is soon turned into a penalty as there is a bit of biff among the forwards.
    • 1' Keith Earls takes Quade Cooper's kick-off but steps into touch. That's not the start Ireland wanted.
    • 1' This is it. The biggest game of the 2011 World Cup so far. Plenty at stake. Nervous? Australia get things started.
    • 09:27 The teams are coming out for the anthems, and they receive a massive ovation as they walk onto the field. Electric atmosphere. And there's plenty of green shirts in the crowd too. This is the second match to be played at Eden Park in Auckland this tournament, the first one being the opening game between New Zealand and Tonga. More on Eden Park

    • 09:20 The Leinster trio of full-back Rob Kearney, flanker Sean O'Brien and prop Cian Healy all return from injury while provincial team-mate Eoin Reddan is back at scrum-half. Australia have recalled wing James O’Connor, who was suspended at the end of the Tri-Nations for breaching team protocol, after his try-scoring effort off the bench against Italy. He replaces the injured Digby Ioane.
    • 09:15 Australia wing Adam Ashley-Cooper: “We took a lot out of our last two performances, against South Africa in Durban and against the All Blacks in Brisbane. To win such an important tournament has created a lot of confidence and belief in the squad. But we've put that behind us because these are new challenges. Ireland are going to be tough. It seems to me that games are being won around the 60-65 minute mark. We expect a pretty tight encounter right up until then." Australia team guide
    • 09:10 Ireland coach Declan Kidney: "This is grand isn't it? It's what we're in this sport for. On Saturday we'll be playing Australia in the World Cup for the fifth time. They're the team in our group seeded above us. This is the one we are really looking forward to. This is the one there's no problem getting yourself ready for. You have to back yourself and back your belief. There is the big performance we need in this team, we just have to make sure we don't force it out of ourselves." Ireland team guide
    • 09:05 Ireland have gone off the boil of late and they need their mojo back. Quickly. They finished third in the Six Nations, they lost all of their warm-up games against Scotland, France (twice) and England, while they were made to work for their opening World Cup victory against the USA. Australia, however, are on a high - winning the Tri-Nations while cutting loose in the second half to beat Italy 32-6 in their World Cup opener.
    • 09:00 After two hearty World Cup starters, welcome to the main course on this Saturday morning. The crunch Pool C game at Eden Park between Ireland and Tri-Nations champions Australia. And big news for the Wallabies, flanker David Pocock misses out with a back strain suffered in training on Friday.
