    • 80' FULL-TIME: Australia kick the ball out from the restart, and that's the final action of the match. A very creditable second half response from Russia - it could have been a landslide and in the end it wasn't. Australia looked shell-shocked by the loss of Mitchell with a hamstring pull - but the Wallabies are safely into the quarter-finals.
    • 80' 68-22 - Over it goes - O'Connor makes it 9 successful kicks from 10 attempts. The rain bucketing it down now as the game nears an end.
    • 79' 66-22 - AUSTRALIA TRY! Something from nothing as Shakirov's attempted high ball is charged down by Barnes, and the centre is first to the ball and coasts in for Australia's first try in half an hour.
    • 78' Fainga'a's throw not straight at the lineout - Russian put-in at the scrum.
    • 77' Lineout lets Russia down again. Australia have a penalty, which Cooper punts upfield.
    • 76' Russia win the scrum, winning a penalty as Australia wheel around. Prospective QF opponents South Africa will have seen some moments of brilliance from Australia, but some sloppiness to exploit too.
    • 75' Powerful run from Samo down the touchline - we saw a couple earlier but since then he's been quiet. He almost loses the slippery ball here, but hangs on. As the play switches left, Simmons loses the ball in contact.
    • 74' Rachkov tries a couple of up and unders - Russia making progress upfield here, but Australia back in possession.
    • 73' Fatakhov off, Matveev on - that means everyone in the Russian 22 has featured - Matveev, normally a hooker, is on at flanker!
    • 72' Russia's lineout fails - Burgess pounces and very nearly reaches the line. Russia hold off a couple of waves of attack, but Gresev gives away a penalty in the process.
    • 71' Cracking kick from Barnes - angled kick which Samo can't reach, but it goes out on the bounce by the corner flag and Russia will be under pressure on the lineout.
    • 70' Final ten minutes of this contest - Australia won't be getting their 100 points after all - in fact, Russia are 'winninng' the second half 17-14...
    • 69' 61-22 - Rachkov converts his own try, the ball just sneaking inside the posts.
    • 68' 61-20 - RUSSIA TRY! Rachkov gets it, pushing over the line after Shakirov recycles it! Looked as if they would be held up on the line by Elsom, but Russia now just one more try away from the bonus point!
    • 67' Looks as if Russia might fancy a third try here... they are stopped by a high tackle from Sharpe which Lawrence pulls up. Russia knock into touch for a lineout.
    • 66' Another change for Russia - Popov off, Botvinnikov replaces him. The new man is straight into a Russia scrum on the Australian 22.
    • 65' The drizzle has arrived in Nelson - unlikely to make a scrappy contest any more flowing...
    • 64' Injury problem for Russia too - Yanyushkin is hobbling here - Shakirov is coming on to replace him.
    • 63' Australia have just lost their way since Mitchell pulled up lame. He'd worked very hard to come back from another injury sustained during the Super 15 season - it's a cruel blow for the player and the team if his World Cup ends here.
    • 62' Just before the try Russia made two changes - Grachev and Prischipenko off, Babaev and Travkin on.
    • 61' 61-15 - Rachkov cracks over the extras.
    • 60' 61-13 - RUSSIA TRY! Simplikevich is the one who scores it - Cooper throws a loose pass - Simplikevich intercepts and storms unchallenged under the posts!
    • 58' Australia have a lineout after weathering a little Russian storm. Samo sent forward to chase a high ball, but doesn't get there - it's all gone a bit scrappy since the injury.
    • 57' Prishchepenko pounces on O'Connor to grab the ball and pops up a pass to Popov, but his fellow prop is never going to get to the line on his own. Russia have a scrum though.
    • 56' Russia on the front foot again, but Australia turn the ball over five metres from their own line.
    • 55' Not a very clever challenge from Cooper - he flings Simplikevich to the ground with one arm around the neck - just a penalty for the Russians.
    • 54' Russia have Australia back in their own 22, but Cooper kicks them out of trouble.
    • 53' Play continues as Mitchell is examined - Phipps comes on to replace Mitchell. He's a scrum-half by trade, but will be out on the wing for now.
    • 52' That's really bad news for Mitchell and Australia - he was clear to run in for the hat-trick, but it looks as if he's pulled his hamstring - if he has, that's the end of his World Cup.
    • 51' Expansive passes for Russia - Mitchell pounces - but no - he's pulled up injured!
    • 50' Garbuzov and Shakirov on, Voytov and Kushnarev off for Russia.
    • 49' 61-8 - A slower build-up to this conversion, but the same result - excellent kicking from O'Connor today.
    • 48' 59-8 - AUSTRALIA TRY! It's too easy - men over on the left, Mitchell in acres of space, and he slides across for his second try of the match, and the 30th of his career.
    • 46' 54-8 - RUSSIA DROP GOAL! Lawrence had signalled advantage, but Russia don't need it - substitute Rachkov is in the slot straight in front of the posts, and sends over a drop goal for some more Russian points.
    • 45' After an illegal bind, Russia have a penalty - they're making the most of it - Russia plough forward into the Australian 22 and are going through the phases...
    • 44' Basic errors again from Russia - the restart goes out on the full, so we're back to halfway.
    • 43' 54-5 - Super conversion from O'Connor.
    • 42' 52-5 - AUSTRALIA TRY! We've had an interval, changed the personnel a little, but the action on-field is much the same - a couple of pop passes, and Ma'afu at full stretch gets the ball to the line.
    • 41' Pocock, Moore and Horwill off, Elsom, Simmons and Polota on for Australia.
    • 41' The second half begins! Some changes to let you know about...
    • - "Australia will break 100 today!" says Mike L in the comments below - the way this one is going, it's hard to disagree. What do you reckon? Leave a comment below or follow me on Twitter @markjpatterson
    • 40' HALF-TIME: That's the final action of the half. Australia through to the quarter-finals, probably to play South Africa. All that's left for us to find out now is the scale of their victory.
    • 40' 47-5 - Cracking conversion from out wide by O'Connor - no shortage of practice today though!
    • 39' 45-5 - AUSTRALIA TRY! Make that seven - Burgess gets Australia moving again, then Cooper slips in a grubber kick, and Ashley-Cooper gets to it first to score his first of the day.
    • 38' Only New Zealand have scored 10 or more tries against five different sides in World Cup matches - but Australia have six tries against the Russians already...
    • 37' 40-5 - No problems for O'Connor as he knocks over the conversion.
    • 36' 38-5 - AUSTRALIA TRY! Normal service is resumed - looks as if it will be Pocock to run in for a hat-trick, but he just cannot get to the line. His offload paves the way for Moore to bundle through, though.
    • 35' Whatever else happens, that will be a big moment for the Russians.
    • 34' The conversion doesn't follow - from the touchline Kushnarev misses narrowly to the right.
    • 33' 33-5 - RUSSIA TRY! Burgess turns the ball over and dances out to the 22. That looks to be the end of Russia's move, but he loses the ball - Ostroushko picks up the loose ball, steps past Nathan Sharpe, and runs in at the corner. They enjoyed that one!
    • 32' Yanyushkin held up on the line! Russia so close, but we'll go back to a scrum at five metres.
    • 31' Temporary sub for Russia - Kepu off, Ma'afu on.
    • 30' Horwill takes out the jumper at the lineout - quite cynical, really, given the scoreline. Russia, once again, won't be kicking.
    • 29' Australia concede a penalty, Russia go for the lineout by the corner flag.
    • 28' Russia on the attack! We haven't seen that in this encounter, and the crowd responding to their efforts. Kuzin with the driving run forward.
    • 27' Cooper tries a quick pass but it's pulled up for being well forward.
    • 26' Higginbotham surges straight off his feet at the breakdown - that wasn't necessary - Russia have a chance to get upfield.
    • 25' Penalty against Russia - Australia decline to kick for three, and head straight to the corner.
    • 24' Australia guaranteed themselves qualification after the fourth try - but Russia aren't going to be put out of their misery just yet - still almost three-quarters of the game remaining.
    • 23' 33-0 - easy as you like for O'Connor to kick the conversion.
    • 22' 31-0 - AUSTRALIA TRY! So nearly Ashley-Cooper's first, who breaks through the line by is help up by Yanyushkin. But the ball is recycled and Pocock crosses for his second try of the afternoon!
    • 21' Australia zip the ball across to the right, but Mitchell, popping u[p more centrally cannot break through for once. Australia stay patient.
    • 20' Cooper tries a speculative chip-kick through - Ostroushko should cover but fumbles backwards, and ends up scrambling it out five yards from his own line. Lineout to Australia.
    • 19' Bryce Lawrence orders the scrum to be reset - Russia win it, and Kushnarev kicks deep - but it's coming straight back...
    • 18' Less fluid from the Australians, but it can't all be scintillating passing rugby. Horwill caught out trying an expansive pass - Russia have the put-in at the scrum.
    • 17' Russia have made more tackles per game (125.7) than any other side at this year’s World Cup (Opta). But they've been falling off challenges so far today.
    • 16' 26-0 - The scoreline is looking worrying already for Russia. We're not a quarter of the way through this game yet.
    • 15' 24-0 - AUSTRALIA TRY! Easy as anything - Moore throws in to Horwill at the lineout, two passes, on to Pocock, and he runs in under the posts.
    • 14' Looks like Australia will make another telling move, but O'Connor's final pass to Samo is cut off just in time. Lineout for the Wallabies inside the 22.
    • 13' 19-0 - O'Connor knocks over the extras.
    • 12' 17-0 - AUSTRALIA TRY! And that was magnificent - some real gems in that move - a high crossfield kick from Cooper to Samo, a late offload left from the winger, and some flowing passing which culminates with McCalman going in under the posts.
    • 11' A zip to the Australia passing now - they look like they're going to have fun after these first two tries.
    • 10' 12-0 - O'Connor's radar in better order this time around - the 20-year-old knocks over a trickier conversion at the second time of asking.
    • 9' 10-0 - AUSTRALIA TRY! The Wallabies advance after Burgess' break - Barnes sends up a teasing high ball, and Mitchell is well ahead of the rest to grab it and cross over on the left hand side.
    • 8' Australia straight back on the move after the restart - Burgess breaks away and Russia are outnumbered already.
    • 7' It stays 5-0 - O'Connor stands over this one for a while, but when he finally kicks the ball swings wildly across the posts and misses to the right.
    • 6' 5-0 - AUSTRALIA TRY! Barnes is the man who gets through, exposing a big gap as Australia spin the ball across from right to left. Credit to Samo too, who made some yards down the right touchline first to get Australia moving.
    • 5' Juggling skills from Cooper - very nearly knocks the ball on as he attempts to take a high ball punted up by Kushnarev, but taps it backwards before the referee blows his whistle. Australia sort themselves out.
    • 4' Well done the men in white - they win a penalty on the scrum as Australia's front row collapse. Slipper the guilty party for Australia.
    • 3' Korshunov given a warning there for a late tackle. Australia penalty - and they kick for touch by the corner.
    • 2' Higginbotham loses the ball in contact, but Russia give it straight back as the Australians go through the phases.
    • 1' We're away! Wait - no we're not. Yury Kushnarev kicks, several players run ahead of the kick, and referee Bryce Lawrence pulls them back.
    • 3:30 As the national anthems ring out, a quick reminder - you can get involved with your own thoughts on the game by leaving a comment below or by telling me what you think about Radike Samo on Twitter by following me here @markjpatterson
    • 3:25 Fortunately for Australia Russia are not anticipated to pose too much of a problem. The two sides have yet to meet on the rugby field, but the IRB rankings (Australia 3, Russia 21) give you an idea of who's favourite. Russia have played three, lost three - a narrow 6-13 loss to the United States, a 53-17 reverse to Italy, and a 62-12 defeat at the hands of Ireland.
    • 3:20 Australia have real injury problems at the moment - there are only 22 players to choose from at present. The good news is that David Pocock makes a return at flanker after two games out.

    • 3:10 AUSTRALIA: 15-James O'Connor, 14-Radike Samo, 13-Adam Ashley-Cooper, 12-Berrick Barnes, 11-Drew Mitchell, 10-Quade Cooper, 9-Luke Burgess, 8-Ben McCalman, 7-David Pocock, 6-Scott Higginbotham, 5-Nathan Sharpe, 4-James Horwill (captain), 3-Sekope Kepu, 2- Stephen Moore, 1-James Slipper. Replacements: 16-Tatafu Polota Nau, 17-Saia Fainga'a, 18-Salesi Ma'afu, 19-Rob Simmons, 20-Rocky Elsom, 21-Will Genia, 22-Nick Phipps
    • 3:05 After losing to Ireland earlier in the group stage Australia still have a bit of work to do to ensure their qualification. They need a bonus point win today (scoring four tries), to guarantee a quarter-final. World Cup group standings
