    • FT So Ireland go through to play Wales in the quarter-finals and that should be an absolutely cracking clash
    • 80' CONVERSION IRELAND! 36-6! Sexton keeps up his impressive World Cup by adding the conversion from right out on the left wing and that'll be the last kick of the match
    • 80' TRY IRELAND! 34-6! Great work from Ireland as they break from collecting the high ball. Trimble gets away before finding Earls on the outide and he has no trouble whatsoever in sprinting away and diving over the line. That seems like justice for Ireland
    • 79' Television replays suggest that Bowe has been taken out early by Benvenuti ... it looks a pretty clear cut case but the TMO says no foul and Bowe is denied the try. It'll be a Italian kick on the 22 and that seems very harsh
    • 79' Reddan clears up at the back for Ireland before finding Bowe ... Bowe kicks upfield and sets off in chase ... he punts forward once again after not being able to get down to the ball ... and a second time ... he dives down to it but did he touch down before Benvenuti and McLean
    • 77' Italy back within five metres of the Irish line once again but Ireland's defence looks pretty solid. Parisse goes down injured and will have to go off with a blood injury as he has got a fairly sizeable cut just above his left eye
    • 75' Ireland win the penalty when Italy spin the scrum around ... Ireland clear but only just past the 22m line ... just five minutes remaining now
    • 73' Gori finds Perugini who goes around the corner and gets to within five metre of the Ireland try line ... but Ireland win a scrum when Italy are penalised right in between the posts.
    • 70' PENALTY IRELAND! 29-6! Jonathan Sexton has just replaced Ronan O'Gara and his first act of the match will be to kick this penalty. It's pretty straight forward though from right in front of the posts and Ireland have another three points.
    • 70' Connor Murray and Benvenuti get involved in a bit of a scuffle, after Benvenuti has bowled D'Arcy over ... it'll be a penalty to Ireland ...
    • 67' A shocking lineout from Italy sees Ireland comfortably steal the ball. Ireland clear but only as far as Italy and they kick back ... the tension is beginning to get the better of players now
    • 66' Italy will have another lineout, this time on the five metre line, after the Irish front row is penalised for collapsing ...
    • 62' Ireland are penalised for tackling a player in the air and Bocchino comes up with a beautiful punt upfield for Italy. Italy will have a lineout on the Irish 22 ...
    • 60' Ireland once again are pushing towards the line ... Italy turn the ball over and clear but only as far as the 22 ... Ireland will start again ...
    • 57' Ireland knock on and Gori boots upfield ...
    • 56' Ireland look like they could run rampant ... Kearney crosses over in the corner but the decision will go to TMO. He was held up though and it will be a five metre scrum
    • 53' CONVERSION IRELAND! 26-6! O'Gara boots another beautiful conversion and Ireland have this match won
    • 52' TRY IRELAND! 24-6! D'Arcy break for Ireland ... they are streaming forward and have plenty in support ... Earls recieves the ball on the left wing and dives over for Ireland's second try
    • 51' Ireland win another penalty after illegal binding at the scrum, they get the chance to kick for territory ...
    • 48' CONVERSION IRELAND! 19-6! O'Gara is on form with boot as he adds the conversion and Ireland are beginning to grab control of this clash now ...
    • 48' TRY IRELAND! 17-6! Bowe offloads to O'Driscoll on the inside and the Irish skipper sprints away unchallenged for the first try of the match
    • 47' Bowe breaks through for Ireland ... Italy have men back but Bowe has support ...
    • 44' PENALTY IRELAND! 12-6! O'Gara's kick looks as though it might be going wide of the right post but it curls round at the last minute and dips inside the post. Italy trail by six points now ...
    • 42' Ireland earn themselves a chance to stretch Ireland's lead to six after Italy are penalised at the breakdown once again ...
    • 41' Italy get the second half underway through the boot of substitute Riccardo Bocchino ...
    • HT There is the half-time whistle and Ireland go in with just a slim lead of three points
    • 40' Tensions are running high on the field as Healey and Marco Bergamasco peel off from the rolling maul, punching each other as they go. The ref Kaplan just calms things down as Bergamasco receives some treatment
    • 38' Bergamasco has the distance but bounces his kick off the left upright, just like O'Gara earlier in the game, and Ireland collect, kicking out on to the 22
    • 37' Italy get a couple of penalties from the re-start, opting for the scrum on both occassions. It looks to be the wrong decision as they fail to make any ground on Ireland but they get a third chance and this time they will kick from the 10m line
    • 35' PENALTY IRELAND! 9-6! Italy are penalised for not rolling way from the tackle and this time O'Gara makes sure Murray knows he want to kick the points. And sure enough he secures them. Ireland back in the lead
    • 33' The scrum breaks down twice from Italy and Ireland have the penalty ... Murray takes a quick tap but the ball pops out of the side of a maul. Italy have turned the ball over but only as far as Kearney and Ireland start again ...
    • 30' Ireland turn the ball over before speading the ball forward ... O'Brien finds Bowe, who is away for the try. But they have been called back for a forward pass. It'll be a defensive Italian scrum on the 22
    • 27' O'Driscoll finds Murray after the scrum ... he makes it almost to the Italian 22. Ireland retain possession ... O'Gara to D'Arcy ... O'Gara again ... O'Brien runs straight into Semenzato and knocks on ... Irish scrum
    • 25' Italy look to break from their own half after a solid lineout ... Semenzato just finds Garcia before he knocks on. Ireland will have a scrum just inside their own half ...
    • 22' There's a bit of a scuffle between Healey and Salvatore Perugini as the Irish prop accuses his opposite number of eye-gouging. The referee didn't spot it in real time and warns both players. But TV replays show Perugini did have his hands in Healey's eye area.
    • 21' PENALTY ITALY! 6-6! Mirco Bergamasco adds another three points to his tally and draws Italy level once again
    • 20' Italy get to within centimetres of the line on the rolling maul before Castrogiovanni takes the ball on. He goes close once again, Italy are playing advantage and we'll go back for the penalty ...
    • 18' Ireland break through Semenzato after a great line from Parisse ... Italy work through the phases and there's nothing Murray can do as he boots out. Italy will have a attacking lineout just insde the 22
    • 16' PENALTY IRELAND! 6-3! No mistake from O'Gara this time as he curls the ball inside the posts from the left upright and they sneak in front once again
    • 16' Italy secure the ball at the lineout but are immediately penalised for obstruction when two players get in the way of Parisse ...
    • 15' Ireland get so close, just five metres out ... O'Brien finds O'Connoll ... Ireland work the ball through the phases ... O'Driscoll two metres out ... he is pushed into touch by solid Italian defence ... Italy will have the defensive lineout

    • 9' Italy get their first penalty sa the Irish scum splinters a little bit and Cian Healey becomes unbound ...
    • 7' PENALTY IRELAND! 3-0! O'Gara gets the Irish off the mark with a great kick from the left wing after Italy were penalised for not rolling away. It's been all-Ireland in the first eight minutes of this match
    • 4' Ireland have made a cracking start and break into the Italian half through Ronan O'Gara. O'Gara finds Bowe ... back to O'Gara ... out on to the left wing ...
