    • 80' FINAL WHISTLE! New Zealand start their World Cup campaign with a victory, dominant in the first-half but less so after the break.
    • 79' New Zealand not firing on all cylinders, yet are still winning 41-10. Room for improvement.
    • 77' Three more changes for NZ. Colin Slade for Carter at 10, Flynn for Hore at hooker, Boric for Vito in the back row.
    • 76' Piri Weepu adds the extras and it is NZ 41 Tonga 10.
    • 75' TRY NZ! Ma'a Nonu goes over the line after some moments of brilliance from the All Blacks. A Sonny Bill offload and nice delayed passes from Weepu and then Slade who feeds the scorer.
    • 74' Taumalolo has made a big impact since coming on. This is not the 50-60 point All Blacks victory that many expected.
    • 73' Kurt Morath adds the extras and it is NZ 34 Tonga 10.
    • 72' TRY TONGA! Constant pressure and the pick and go reaps rewards as Sona Taumalolo burrows low and scores.
    • 71' Taniela Moa makes a dart for the line but Tonga are held up a metre short.
    • 70' Not a great spectacle at the moment as NZ collapse the scrum again.
    • 69' The front rows continue to collapse, endless re-set scrummages.
    • 68' Tonga camped in the NZ 22. They have spent nine minutes there in this match.
    • 67' Strong stuff from the Tongan pack, two penalties conceded by NZ. A penalty try could be looming.
    • 66' Scrum for Tonga near the line.
    • 65' Tonga take the penalty quickly. They want a try and are a metre short.
    • 64' The first serious test of the NZ defence and they are penalised for hands in the ruck.
    • 63' Tonga's best spell of possession in the game but they aren't really getting anywhere. Inch by inch towards the All Blacks line.
    • 62' NZ turnover after Carter is hit hard and Tonga are inside the All Blacks 22.
    • 61' Cory Jane on for Toeava.
    • 60' The conversion attempt from Carter is wide.
    • 59' TRY NZ. Great chip and chase from Richard Kahui and Jerome Kaino has the simple task of touching down. NZ 34-3 Tonga.
    • 58' New Zealand concede a penalty at the breakdown, scrum at halfway.
    • 57' Sam Whitelock on for Brad Thorn - still 0-0 in the second-half.
    • 56' Tonga captain Finau Maka has limped off. Former Biarritz forward Samiu Vahafolau on in his place.
    • 55' The winger had a foot in touch and the try is disallowed.
    • 54' A turnover and Ma'a Nonu feeds Toeava on the left wing who crosses the line. A try is awarded but it will go upstairs to the TV official.
    • 53' Nine handling errors from NZ tonight.
    • 52' Williams loses the ball in the tackle as he tries to force his way over from close range.
    • 51' Superb defence from Tonga as Isaia Toeava looks like he will go over the line after Sonny Bill's sublime grubber.
    • 50' Great football skills from Sonny Bill down the left and NZ move into the Tonga 22.
    • 49' Tonga turn the ball over and have a decent spell of possession.
    • 47' Tonga have changed their hookers, Ephraim Taukafa on for Aleki Lutui.
    • 46' Injury to a Tongan player, we're back underway with an All Blacks scrum.
    • 45' Loose pass from Jimmy Cowan to Israel Dagg and the ball goes forward. NZ penalised in the scrum and Tonga gain some ground.
    • 44' Ben Franks on for Tony Woodcock in the All Blacks front row.
    • 43' The All Blacks still inside the Tongan 22.
    • 42' Immediately NZ are in sight of the Tonga posts. Sonny Bill Williams charges towards the line but he is held up just short and is then penalised for not releasing.
    • 41' And we are off for the second-half.
    • 40' The ref blows up for the end of the first half immediately after Morath has got Tonga off the mark. Great start to the tournament for New Zealand!
    • 40' Nicely struck kick by Tonga fly-half Morath and the ball sails through the posts to make it 29-3.
    • 40' Tonga waste their first penalty but quickly win another - this time some 40m out, and just inside the 15m line. With the clock in the red the underdogs will take a chance at picking up some points.
    • 39' Tonga try to maul the ball upfield from a throw in deep in their own half - they're bogged down in the centre of the pitch and it's all going nowhere, but the All Blacks are penalised for an infringement and it's a penalty to Tonga.
    • 38' Great tackle on Dagg! The full-back is taken down and spills the ball forwards to end the move.
    • 37' Nice throw-in by the hosts from the left, and Dagg will be released to have a run on the far side of the pitch...
    • 36' Carter kicks for touch, All Black throw-in at their own 10m line.
    • 35' Tonga make a break, with scrum-half Moa breaking through the line and deep into the 22m - but sadly he was marginally offside when he collected the ball from the ruck. Penalty for New Zealand.
    • 34' A better restart from Tonga and they win the ball back from the kick.
    • 33' With the pressure now well and truly off, Carter converts from the edge of the pitch to make it 29-0.
    • 32' ANOTHER TRY FOR NEW ZEALAND! Superb work by Israel Dagg to draw the defence, and his back-handed off-load to Richard Kahui sets the winger up to run the ball in at the corner. Fabulous rugby from the hosts.
    • 31' The restart kick goes straight out and the All Blacks choose a scrum on the centre circle - they'll have another attacking platform straight away.
    • 30' Carter converts a difficult chance from a wide angle.
    • 29' TRY! Another try for New Zealand and another for Israel Dagg! The breakaway came from another loss of the ball from Tonga. Toeava sidesteps and finds Williams, who again offloads for Dagg to cross the line near the flag.
    • 28' Iongi hares down the flank after the dink forward but the ball bounces just out of play. He would have been clean through there.
    • 27' Tonga build their most promising attack thus far but once more the ballis turned over all too easily.
    • 25' Israel Dagg is the first All Black to score the tournament's opening try at the Rugby World Cup since Michael Jones in 1991. (Infostrada)
    • 23' Tonga under siege virtually from the kick-off. All Blacks get the ball over the line once more, but the whistle had already been blown for obstruction against Brad Thorn.
    • 22' Tonga have only ever scored one try in a competitive fixture against New Zealand. Fly-half Pierre Hola crossed for the solitary five-pointer in Tonga’s 91-7 loss at the 2003 Rugby World Cup. (Opta)
    • 21' Carter converts this time from a more central position.
    • 20' TRY! All too easy for the All Blacks as Isaia Toeava skips inside from the wing and offloads to Kahui, who sidesteps his man and finishes with ease to round off a really classy move!
    • 18' Cowan's offload is almost intercepted Tonga, but the visitors only succeed in knocking on.
    • 16' Kurt Morath has a task here with this kick from some 50 metres out. He gets enough distance on it but not the line, and Tonga remain scoreless.
    • 15' A Tongan scrum wheels round and All Blacks get the ball in hand. Dagg boots clear and Tonga regain possession. They win a penalty for Williams not releasing after a tackle.
    • 13' Jimmy Cowan's clearances hits Soane Tonga'uiha full in the face, and the Tongan is floored! He's up soon enough though.
    • 12' Carter's run-up from a wide angle looks a little uncertain, and his kick just sails the wrong side of the post.
    • 11' TRY! Williams takes a big hit but gets the out to Kahui. The ball is swept across to Israel Dagg and the full-back touches down for the first try of the tournament!
    • 9' Tonga are strong in the scrum, but there is little in the way of quick ball as they try to sweep forward. The Polynesians are struggling to make it into the All Blacks' half so far.
    • 8' All Blacks sweeping forward again was another expert offload from Williams, but play is called back for a forward pass.
    • 6' New Zealand have always won their opening World Cup fixture. There is little to suggest that will change today.
    • 5' It's a formality for Carter to register the first points of the World Cup. No doubt the first of many for test match rugby's highest-ever points scorer.
    • 4' More pressure from All Blacks and the hosts win an early penalty. It's close and right in front of the posts.
    • 3' So close for the All Blacks as a textbook line-out is played across the line. Williams plays wide to Kaino who is tackled three yards from the line.
    • 2' A big hit from Sonny Bill Williams early doors and the All Blacks turn over possession. Dan Carter kicks into touch.
    • 1' Tonga kick off and the 2011 Rugby World Cup is underway!
    • - The crowd are going bonkers for their men on this opening night, cheering the Haka crazily all the way through - and we're just moments from kick-off.
