  1. 6-3 - Soderling is through! He played a terrific final set. He will play the winner of Rafael Nadal versus Jurgen Melzer in the final. That was some effort.

  2. 5-3 - This has been a great spell by Soderling. When the pressure has been on, he has come up with the answers. Fabulous tennis by the Swede.

  3. 4-3 - A break by Soderling! He leads by four games to three. That was a key moment. Soderling is suddenly striking the ball so well over three hours into the match.

  4. 3-3 - A backhand winner down the line by Soderling. Terrific shot and we are all level.

  5. 2-3 - Berdych edges ahead again. Games on serve. Nothing in this set.

  6. 2-2 - Soderling delivers the perfect riposte. Working well with that forehand and backhand. Really forcing the issue.

  7. 2-1 - Berdych holds serve. All to play for. Games back on serve.

  8. 1-1 - Great play by Berdych. He breaks back immediately! Stunning response.

  9. 1-0 - Soderling breaks to love in this opening game! That could be a decisive moment in the match. Suddenly the Swede is starting to gain control of the key points.

  10. 6-3 - Soderling saves a break point with an ace before playing a couple of magnificent shots. We are heading for a deciding set.

  11. 5-3 - Berdych must be sweating buckets under that baseball cap. He repels Soderling's advances in that game to hold serve. That could be important because it means he would serve first if we head into a final set.

  12. 5-2 - Terrific service game by Soderling. This match is swinging back and forth. Both men enjoying periods of dominance. Very unpredictable.

  13. 4-2 - This seems destined for five sets! Soderling breaks in the sixth game.

  14. 3-2 - A love game for Soderling. He leads by the odd game in five. Just the moment to produce a love service game.

  15. 2-2 - Berdych benefits from a net cord as the ball drops over to leave Soderling in no man's land. He doesn't hang about on the next point. Some big hitting and we are back to 2-2.

  16. 2-1 - A good service game by Soderling when he needed it. Berdych gets too much air on a return and Soderling slams the winner down the line to lead 2-1. The Swede can't afford to drop serve here with Berdych looking confident.

  17. 1-1 - Another impressive service game by Berdych. Holds to love. Soderling looks a little bemused, but he is not going to outlast Berdych here. The Czech player looks supremely fit.

  18. 1-0 - Uncomfortable moment for Soderling at the outset of the fourth set. Forced to save a break point, but he displays a lot of guts to hold serve. Soderling has made 44 unforced errors compared to Berdych's 26. That is a pretty damning statistic.

  19. 5-7 - That is the way to win a set! Four aces in the game! Berdych leads 2-1. Does Soderling have a comeback in the tank? The momentum lies firmly with the Czech.

  20. 5-6 - Berdych breaks! Soderling slams his racket off the deck. He is looking very frustrated. Berdych will serve for the third set.

  21. 5-5 - Perfect service response by Berdych. Never in danger there. We have been on court for two hours under what it must be said is an unforgiving sky.

  22. 5-4 - Soderling conjures up a love service game. Berdych will serve to stay in this third set.

  23. 4-4 - Berdych saves two break points to hold his service game! He played the first drop shot of the match at a key time. We continue on serve.

  24. 4-3 - Three successive games for Soderling! He is clenching his first. Games back on serve.

  25. 3-3 - Berdych drops in a loose service game. Couple of forehand errors and Soderling breaks back.

  26. 2-3 - Soderling doesn't look like the same figure who eliminated Federer. Timing is slightly off, but he claims that game on serve. Berdych serves a break up.

  27. 1-3 - Chance to break back for Soderling, but he can't convert the break point. Soderling looks as if he has lost his timing somewhat. Berdych cements his break to lead by two games in this third set.

  28. 1-2 - Berydch reading that Soderling serve. The Swede saves four break points, but a double fault on the fifth sees Berdych break for the second time in the match. It is hotting up out there! And the sun is also shining.

  29. 1-1 - Timely response from Berdych on serve. Each player coming under more scrutiny on their serve.

  31. 1-0 - Best service game for a while from Soderling. Didn't drop a point there.

  32. 3-6 - Berdych rattles the net with the court at his mercy to miss his first set point, but a seventh ace sees him level at 1-1. Difficult to predict how this match will unravel from this point.

  33. 3-5 - That big Soderling forehand works well enough in that game, but Berdych has the ball in hand and he is serving for the set.

  34. 2-5 - Soderling has really lost his way in this set. He will serve to stay in the second set.

  35. 2-4 - Berdych got a bit more joy in that service game in forcing it to 40-40 , but Soderling plays the telling points. He remains a break down.

  36. 1-4 - A love game for Berdych on serve! He gets the break then enjoys an easy service game. The momentum of the set swings firmly back to Berdych.

  37. 1-3 - A break for Berydch! Couple of loose shots by Soderling at 30-30 opens the door for the 15th seed. Soderling suddenly looking a little flustered out there.

  38. 1-2 - Not getting any easier for Berdych on serve. The game goes to 40-40, but the Czech clings on. He could do with an easier service game. Umbrellas are over the players. It is a boiling day out there on court.

  39. 1-1 - Soderling squanders a glaring chance on the first point as he fails to convert a volley and then a smash. Berdych pulls off a stunning forehand on the run, but it is not enough to break the Swede. Soderling wins the game with a two-handed backhand down the line.

  40. 0-1 - Another tough game for Berdych on serve. He is forced to deuce, but gets over the winning line with a couple of well placed shots. Soderling getting 61% of first serves in, compared to Berdych's 45%.

  41. 6-3 - Soderling quickly brings three sets points up. He misses the first one, but a blistering forehand across court wrong foots Berdych and the fifth seed is one set up. He could not have scripted a better start to the match. The Swede leads.

  42. 5-3 - Berdych holds, but Soderling will serve for the set. Still not a full house in here. Quite baffling really.

  43. 5-2 - Soderling starting to move well. He cements the break. Lovely little dink over the net to wrap that game up. That is classic play on grass never mind clay. A big forehand before following it up with the winning volley at the net.

  44. 4-2 - First break point of the match falls to Soderling, but Berdych rescues the situation with a potent second serve. He falters badly at deuce as a missed forehand and a double fault enables Soderling to break.

  45. - Soderling leads on the head to heads between these two men. He has won five out of their eight matches. They are 1-1 on clay with Soderling edging Berdych in three sets at a world team event in Germany two years ago.

  46. 3-2 - Soderling fairly throws that ball high on his serve. It is working well for him here. He dropped only one point in that last game.

  47. 2-2 - Another very easy game for Berdych on serve. No points dropped. He rounds it off with an ace. The Czech is wearing a pair of yellow wristbands, but he is hardly sweating over holding his serve.

  49. 2-1 - Berdych plays one perfect forehand across court to make it 30-30 before Soderling throws down an ace. A missed forehand sees the score move to 40-40, but Soderling plays another couple of telling forehands to protect his serve. He leads in the opening set.

  50. 1-1 - Berdych returns the favour. No points dropped on his serve. Four minutes gone, one game all.

  51. 1-0 - A comfortable service game for Soderling. An easy hold to get this match underway. Berdych to serve.

  52. - Soderling to serve in the opening game.

  53. 12.15 - Whether or not they are still downing their lunch, a really disappointing crowd to watch the start of the semi-final of a Grand Slam tournament. That has been a consistent feature of this year's tournament.

  54. 12.12 - 28 degrees in Paris. Not the type of day you want to find yourself dragged into a blazing five-set contest on.

  55. 12.11 - Berdych has ousted Andy Murray and Mikhail Youzhny in reaching these semi-finals.

  56. 12.10 - Soderling is bidding for a second straight French Open final appearance after losing to Roger Federer in last year's final. He accounted for the defending champion with victory over the world number one in the last eight.

  57. 12.06 - Should be cracking match on a glorious day for tennis in Paris.

  58. - Good afternoon and welcome to this first semi-final of the French Open between Robin Soderling and Tomas Berdych.
