  1. - - BARTOLI 6-3 6-2 – GAME, SET & MATCH - A bizarre end to the match as Dokic is waiting for an out call on a serve. None comes though and umpire Alison Lang calls game, and with it the match. Dokic throws a challenge at it but sure enough the ball was plum on the line and that sees ninth seed Bartoli through to the third round

  2. - - BARTOLI 6-3 5-2- BREAK – Ouch! Completely deflated by failing to break in the previous game, Dokic drops her serve for a second time in this second set, double faulting by about a metre and a half at 0-40 down. Bartoli will serve for a place in the third round after the change of ends

  3. - - BARTOLI 6-3 4-2 – A couple of double faults from Bartoli don’t start the game in the best of fashions and, although she does get one point back with a reactionary backhand volley winner, Dokic earns herself two break points with a forehand winner down the line. The first goes begging with a backhand long and the second with a backhand return wide across court. And Bartoli goes on to hold with a cross court forehand winner

  4. - - BARTOLI 6-3 1-0 – BREAK – Down a set and a break, Dokic is all manner of trouble now. She is striking the ball very cleanly but she just can’t keep it in as a running forehand sails long down the line to hand Bartoli an early break in the second set

  5. - - BARTOLI 6-3 – SET – Marion Bartoli double faults on her first set point but it costs her nothing as she was 40-0 up at the time. And she quickly rights things with a heavy first serve that Dokic can only return long off the backhand wing. First set Bartoli

  6. - - BARTOLI 5-3 – BREAK – Dokic’s serve gets her into trouble once again. She has no second serve to speak of, it’s more like two first serves really, and she finds herself another couple of break point down. She saves the first with a blistering forehand winner down the line that could not have been closer but a third double fault of the evening hands Bartoli the chance to serve for the opening set

  7. - - BARTOLI 3-2 – BREAK - Bartoli saves a first break point with a great cross court forehand after pushing Dokic wide on the opposite wing but she can do nothing about the second, slapping a backhand long to hand the Australian the break. That was a poor game from the Frenchwoman but at least it got the crowd going a little more

  8. - - BARTOLI 3-1 – BREAK – Dokic gets the crowd going with a fantastic change-of-direction backhand winner down the line to level up at 30-30 but she promptly hands Bartoli a first break point with a forehand long. A forehand into the net on the very next point and the Australian finds herself an early break down on a virtually silent Rod Laver Arena

  9. - - BARTOLI 1-1 - Dokic looked to be cruising to a first service hold at 40-15 up only to send a slightly mis-hit backhand drop shot wide and a cross court forehand long to allow Bartoli to level up at deuce. But the Australian recovered, going on to hold as both the ladies get off the mark in this second round clash

  10. - - And next up on the Rod Laver Arena is the first of the night matches ... between French ninth seed Marion Bartoli and home hope Jelena Dokic. They should be on court shortly
