  1. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-7 6-1 - GAME, SET & MATCH - Wawrinka unleashes another one of those backhands of his on match point to seal a famous victory! Baghdatis just faded in the end and Wawrinka roared through that final set! He goes on to play Nicolas Almagro, who also came through a five-setter today. Should be interesting. Men's draw

  2. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-7 5-1 - Wawrinka confirms that break as Baghdatis loses his way in his shot-making a little. One game from the match now.

  3. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-7 4-1 - BREAK - As the clock ticks over the three-hour mark as Wawrinka fires another lovely backhand right on the money. He repeats the feat a point later to bring up deuce before Baghdatis hits one wide to set up a break opportunity. And the backhand works once again for the Swiss! Surely there's no way back for Baghdatis now!

  4. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-7 3-1 - Wawrinka aces on his way to a service hold, Baghdatis firing wildly long on game point. The Swiss still has that break advantage.

  5. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-7 2-1 - Another epic game! This is one of those classic games in which both players have given so much already that they're now beginning to make mistakes. Baghdatis in particular, and his errors gift Wawrinka three break opportunities during the course of the game, which has five deuces. But the Swiss, who made some sensational winners earlier in the game, just can't convert and Marcos holds.

  6. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-7 2-0 - Stan confirms that break and once again Baghdatis will have to summon all his heart and skill to come from behind and stay in this match.

  7. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-7 1-0 - BREAK - Well, what a turnaround in the opening game of the fourth set! Baghdatis just can't continue his momentum and he is broken at the first time of asking.

  8. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-7 - SET - Wawrinka appears to be crumbling under the pressure here as he hits one long to give Baghdatis two set points... and when a forehand down the line goes wide, the Cypriot forces a fourth set! Bedlam on Margaret Court Arena!

  9. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-6 - A huge roar goes up from the Margaret Court Arena crowd as Wawrinka hits the net to gift the game to Baghdatis, who edges his nose ahead in the third set now. What a match this is - and there could still be a long way to go yet!

  10. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-5 - BREAK - This is why the crowd love Baghdatis! He breaks back after Wawrinka has a 'moment' at 15-40. The Swiss smashes a volley straight into the net to give Baghdatis the chance to break. And he does so in thrilling fashion, a running forehand winner down the line simply too good for his opponent!

  11. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 5-4 - BREAK - Wawrinka holds his serve before he brings up break point in the next game. A moment of real tension ensues, as the crowd noise forces Baghdatis to delay his serve. Wawrinka wants him to get on with it and he shouts something across the net. Baghdastis responds with a 'c'est bon', as in, relax, it's all good. Well, it's not all good for the Cypriot as he finds the net and Wawrinka will now serve for the match!

  12. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 3-4 - Wawrinka fires one just out at the baseline and Baghdatis is able to edge ahead once again.

  13. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 3-3 - What out those racquets... Baghdatis goes long at advantage Wawrinka to concede the game... he thinks about it for a split second, but he knows he really shouldn't be smashing any more equipment. Good decision.

  14. - - Colin Fleming on Twitter: "Currently watching Baghdatis vs Wawrinka. The atmosphere is unreal, crowd so into it. Level of tennis not too bad either."

  15. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 2-3 - Baghdatis looks down and out at 0-40, but a remarkable effort, including a monster rally at 30-40, sees him draw back to deuce. But a double fault puts him straight back into trouble. He saves that one too and eventually, after a lengthy game, holds serve. Meanwhile, a rowdy fan is ejected and as he is bundled out of the arena he manages a wave back to the crowd, which brings another smile out of Baghdatis.

  16. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 2-2 - That last break by Wawrinka was swiftly mirrored by Baghdatis, who sat down at the changeover and proceeded to break four - yes four - raquets. One after the other. Smashed on the ground. Hilarious. Certainly Marcos sees the funny side by the end of his tantrum and he smiles sheepishly. Whatever, it seems to work for him as he goes on to break back!

  17. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 2-1 - BREAK - The noise is incessant during the moments between points... it doesn't affect Wawrinka though as he brings up three break points. He takes it at the first time of asking - that's four from four now - as Baghdatis weakly volleys into the net and the Swiss in the box seat now!

  18. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 1-1 - The umpire is forced into telling the boisterous crowd to button it "out of respect for the players". Wawrinka saves a break point on his way to holding. If you don't believe us about the electric atmosphere, check it out for yourselves on the Eurosport Player.

  19. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 0-1 - It's like a football stadium out there on Margaret Court Arena - Baghdatis's fans are creating a real atmosphere in between games, as they try to spur their man on. It might have worked this time, and the Cypriot holds.

  20. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 6-4 - SET - Wawrinka takes total control of this one as he takes the second set! The Swiss has a lot to live up to this year, having reached the quarter-finals as the 19th seed last year. Then he lost to Roger Federer , but it still equalled his best ever Grand Slam performance - a last-eight appearance at the US Open in 2010.

  21. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 5-4 - BREAK - Wawrinka breaks to edge ahead and the Swiss will now serve for the second set - and a two-set lead.

  22. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 3-4 - Baghdatis rounds off a solid service game with an emphatic volley and the crowd go wild. It must be difficult for Wawrinka, but he seems to be dealing with it okay for the time being.

  23. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 2-2 - Baghdatis does dig in and he manages to conjure up a break of his own to get this set back on serve! Cue his rather vocal fans in the stands...

  24. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 2-0 - Wawrinka has a real spring in step now as he confirms that break and trots off to get a new racquet. It's all going his way at the moment.

  25. - - WAWRINKA 7-6(3) 1-0 - BREAK - Wawrinka, the 21st seed, continues his purple patch as he breaks in the first game of the second set! Baghdatis needs to dig in here before this one gets away from him.

  26. - - WAWRINKA 6-5 - BREAK - He was serving for the set, but Baghdatis is can't manage it as Wawrinka breaks back before confirming that with a held service game of his own. And now Baghdatis, instead of serving for the set, is serving to stay in it.

  27. - - WAWRINKA 4-5 - Baghdatis is delighting the packed Margaret Court Arena and is a break up in the opening set! And the Cypriot, so popular here in Melbourne, will now serve for the first set. The pressure mounts on Wawrinka.

  28. - - WAWRINKA 0-0 - Stan Wawrinka will get his second round clash with Marcos Baghdatis under way. This one is set to be another great match.
