Federer fights back and goes 15-30 up, but he can;t return Isner's next serve. A long rally goes Isner's way after the ball clips the net cord, and the American goes on to hold.

They change ends at 6-6, and Federer gets things back on serve. The swiss has the chance to take th set, but hits his forehand just out of court. Isner then leaves a backhand but it drops on the line! Federer to serve for the set...

  13. TB - The first four points all go with serve, but then Isner gets a mini-break! He begins serving at 3-2 up, but loses the first point and his subsequent challenge. Federer looks like pulling away, but double-faults on his first service point to make it 4-4! Isner returns intot he net, and we are back on serve now.

  14. - - ISNER 6-6 - Maybe not! Federer is such a master at stepping up a gear at just the right time, and he goes into a 0-30 lead. Isner hits a full-blooded winner of his own before Federer hits long. He hammers down a serve that Federer can't return, but then hits long for deuce. Federer defends Isner's advantage with a well-timed attack at the net. Isner then does the same, cancellingout Federer's break point with a stunning serve. Federer hits long and then returns wide and we'll have a tie break!

  15. - - FEDERER 6-5 - Federer hammers a forehand down the line for another hold to love for the world number three. two of the previous three meetings betweent hese two men have seen a tie break. Think we're headed there again now.

  16. - - ISNER 5-5 - A stunning, direct rocket of an ace from Isner for 40-0. Federer is fooled by the slice and hits into the net. We could be going to a breaker here.

  17. - - FEDERER 5-4 - Isner returns long for 30-0. Federer aces and then adjusts his feet quickly to hammer a forehand back past Isner and keep this set going with serve.

He then holds his nerve in these swirling winds to hold his serve under considerable pressure.
