  3. - - Thanks for joining us. Be sure to come back tomorrow for coverage of those semi-finals.

  4. - - FEDERER 6-1 6-2 - Federer finishes the match as he starts, tossing up serves that Seppi just can't handle and holding to 15 to book a place in the semi-finals against Novak Djokovic!

  5. - - SEPPI 6-1 5-2 - BREAK! Lovely flick of the wrist from Federer sends a cross-court forehand past Seppi for 0-30. The Italian hits long to give his opponent three break points. The first one is a backhand that floats long, but he converts the second with a calm volley at the net!

  6. - - FEDERER 6-1 4-2 - A clever drop shot from Federer sentds Seppi scrambling to the net but he can only put the ball out for 30-0. Federer tries the same trick but this time Seppi reaches it and Federer hits the net. A belter of a second serve and a forehand smash see the third seed hold.

  7. - - SEPPI 6-1 3-2 - BREAK! Another decent rally at the start of a game - 21 shots this time - but again it goes Federer's way. He then drills a textbook forehand winner down the line. Seppi responds was a high quality serve, but Federer passes his opponent at the net for another two break points, and he converts the second!

  8. - - FEDERER 6-1 2-2 - More aggression from Seppi but Federer wins the baseline slugfest to start this game. That sets the tone as the Swiss holds to 15.

  9. - - SEPPI 6-1 1-2 - The Italian has certainly improved on his first-set showing, but the most engrossing point of the match so far ends with him hitting the net and giving Federer a break point. The Swiss can only return into the net, though. Seppi beats Federer into submission behind the baseline, but Federer pulls him back to deuce before the Italian eventually holds.

  10. - - FEDERER 6-1 1-1 - Seppi imitates Federer by coming in on his second serve to win the first point, but Federer then levels. Two great shots from Seppi, the second was a powerful passing shot, gives him two break points! He returnsa long on the first and hits wide on the second for deuce. Seppi rescues one advantage from Federer but can't repeat the trick.

  11. - - SEPPI 6-1 0-1 - The longest rally of the match so far ends with Federer wrongfooting Seppi with a forehand for 15-15. Federer hits long from behind the baseline and then hits the net to put Seppi on the verge of taking the game. The Italian sends a serve rigth down the middle that Federer can't return to get on the board to open the second set well.

  12. - - FEDERER 6-1 - SET! The crowd get a brief flurry of excitement as Seppi battles to 15-30, but Federer is soon level in the game. Seppi hits the net but Federer double-faults and Seppi then hammers a return down the line for a break point! Federer saves it and is aggressive at the net en route to taking the first set with just 20 minutes on the clock!

  13. - - SEPPI 5-1 - Roma captain Francesco Totti is in he crowd to cheer on his compatriot, and he sees his man get to 30-0 after Federer miscues a return. A two-hander flies out of Federer's reach as he holds to love! No bagel for Seppi!

  14. - - FEDERER 5-0 - Perhaps Federer has a prior dinner engagement that he's in a rush to get to, because he bullies his way to another hold of serve, a delicate drop shot and a whipped cross-court forehand the pick of the shots in that game.

  15. - - SEPPI 4-0 - Oh dear. Seppi slams a smash out of court and he's 0-30 down. He wins the next rally but an incredible return from Federer just catches the outside edge of the line. Seppi responds with an unreturnable serve, but he can't stop Federer breaking again!

  16. - - FEDERER 3-0 - Seppi gets over the top of a high bouncer from Federer but a little too much and he hits the net for 40-0. Federer gives him no chance with his next serve and the home favourite is 3-0 down in the blink of an eye!

  17. - - SEPPI 2-0 - BREAK! A lovely forehand from Federer sees him convert the first of two break points to immediately take the advantage!

  18. - - FEDERER 1-0 – Not a bad start at all from Federer, holding to love while barely breaking a sweat.

  19. - - The players are all warmed up under the lights, and Federer will serve to get us underway...

  20. - - Egbu Yugo is pretty emphatic in his hopes for this match on Twitter: "C'mon,Roger,do it in straights".

  21. - - Kerber's match has now ended, with Kvitova losing 7-6 1-6 6-1, so we should have Federer and Seppi out on court warming up soon.

  22. - - On Twitter, Jonathan Adam can't see the Seppi story continuing into the semis: "Nadal v Federer final. Ferrer won't cause too many problems and djoko is losing form. Seppi just doesn't have the game!" What do you think?

  23. - - Talking of the women's tournament, Maria Sharapova caused a stir earlier today when she questioned Victoria Azarenka's claim that she had been forced to quit to protect her ranking. Azarenka said via Twitter that she had to play in the first game in order to protect her position at the top of the world rankings. However, Sharapova said the Belarussian was "injured more than anyone" and was often seen "practising two days later". Sharapova slams Azarenka for quitting

  24. - - We're still waiting for Petra Kvitova to finish her match against Angelique Kerber on Campo Centrale, and then we'll get Federer and Seppi out on court. The two women are currently in the deciding set of their match.

  25. - - You can share your thoughts with me via Twitter during the match - @tony_mabert is the place. Can Seppi repeat his heroics of last night? Is Federer destined to finally win in Rome? Let me know your thoughts.

  26. - - Plus, that defeat in Doha back in January saw Seppi take a set off Federer for the first time in four matches, and for only the third time overall. Plus, the way the wind has been behaving during this tournament, the conditions might see Federer struggle.

  27. - - If you are looking for reasons why Seppi can win, then the fact that this is one of the few Masters 1000 events that Federer has not won might help. The Swiss was a beaten finalist here in 2003 and 2006, when he lost to Spaniards Felix Mantilla and Rafael Nadal repsectively, but otherwise his record in the Italian capital is not so hot.

  28. - - It was a turly unforgettable match, but Seppi will have to deliver a performance twice as dogged and inspired if he is going to trouble his second Swiss opponent of the tournament. Federer has won all eight of their previous meetings, most recently in Doha at the start of the year.

  29. - - World number 30 Seppi really captured the imagination of the Italian crowd last night when he won a gruelling epic of an encounter against ninth seed Stanislas Wawrinka (1)6-7 7-6(8) 7-6(6). Match report

  30. - - ... while Nadal beat seventh-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych 6-4 7-5 in an entertaining clash on Campo Centrale to set up a semi-final against fellow Spaniard David Ferrer, who had earlier ousted Frenchman Richard Gasquet 7-6(4) 6-3. Report: Nadal sets up Ferrer clash in Rome

  31. - - Djokovic continued his title defence earlier on Friday when he made light work of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in their 7-5 6-1 quarter-final... Report: Djokovic outclasses sloppy Tsonga

  32. - - One of these men will join Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer in the last four at Foro Italico. The winner will face world number one and defending champion Djokovic for a place in the final. Rome Masters drawsheet

  33. - - Welcome to Eurosport's live coverage of the quarter-final of the Rome Masters as Roger Federer takes on home favourite Andreas Seppi!
