  1. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 6-2 - GAME, SET & MATCH! A forehand into the net from Mayer hands Murray two match points but he only needs the one as another forehand goes astray from the German. That was a very impressive win from Murray in difficult conditions to book his place in the fourth round where he will face the winner between 20th seeded Italian Andreas Seppi or Uzbek Denis Istomin. Men's drawsheet.

  2. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 5-2 30-15 - Murray takes the first point with an injection of pace on a forehand down the line followed by an easy forehand winner across court, before taking the second with a sensational, flicked forehand winner across court on the angle after chasing down a very good drop shot by the German. He wasn't even looking at where he was hitting, he was concentrating more on not running into the umpire's chair!

  3. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 5-2 - Murray fails to get his feet right for a forehand, hitting into the top of the tape to allow Mayer to level at deuce. An inside-out forehand winner across court from the German brings up break point although Murray saves it with a much better first serve. From there the Brit goes on to hold with a netted forehand and a return error from Mayer, who will have to serve to stay in this match after the change of ends.

  4. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 4-2 - Mayer goes long with a forehand approach shot to gift Murray yet another break point. The Brit can't take advantage this time as he forehand return goes long down the line after he backs away from the ball. He gets a second chance but puts his forehand return into the net this time and Mayer goes on to hold when Murray fails to find the court with a forehand return.

  5. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 4-1 - Three big serves and a forehand winner see Murray ease through a love service hold to consolidate the break and leave himself potentially just two games away from a place in the fourth round.

  6. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 3-1 - BREAK! Mayer draws Murray up to the net with a decent, if not spectacular, forehand drop shot. Murray equal to the task and tracks back for the following lob and twists on the ball to whip a backhand passing shot across court. A dipping backhand passing shot on the next point is volley into the net by Mayer before Murary brings up a break point with a backhand volley winner. Another sensational shot, a forehand return across court on to the line, and Murray has the break.

  7. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 2-1 - Murray flicks an angled forehand across court, which Mayer decides to return as a chipped backhand approach shot. But the Brit is comfortably there and battles a backhand passing shot across court for a winner to take the first point of the game. Murray throws in an ace for good measure to bring up two game points before securing the hold with a backhand winner.

  8. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 1-1 - Mayer gives himself a little encouragment with a much better service hold to 15, sealed when Murray nets a forehand return.

  9. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 1-0 - Murray eases through another service hold to 15 to open the third set. The Brit brings up two game points with a delightful forehand winner across court, despite a fantastic sliced backhand from Mayer, which would have been a winner against most other players on Tour. A backhand winner then seals the game for Murray and Mayer is left shaking his head on the walk down to the other end of the court.

  10. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 6-2 - SET! Murray leaps out wide to a forehand return, whipping the ball across court for a winner to bring up two set points. He only needs the one though, hitting consistently to the forehand volley of Mayer, dipping the ball over the net until the German sends a volley long.

  11. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 5-2 - Murray is really hitting his stride now as he loops a series of forehands across court before rattling a change-of-direction forehand winner down the line. It helps him on his way to three game points before a rushed backhand lob goes wide across court and a forehand goes long. But an ace does seal the game at the third attempt, firing down a service winner to leave Mayer to serve to stay in this second set after the change of ends.

  12. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 4-2 - Mayer nets a backhand volley and then also sends a backhand sailing long from the back of the court to allow Murray to apply some pressure at 30. But the German recovers and holds with a backhand winner to keep the deficit down to just the one break.

  13. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 4-1 - Murray matches Mayer's love service hold with a love service hold of his own, sealing the game with an ace down the centre of the court.

  14. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 3-1 - Much better from Mayer as he eases through a love service hold, Murray missing the court with a smash winner and then a forehand and backhand forced errors.

  15. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 3-0 - A double fault from Murray hands Mayer an immediate break back point but the Brit comes up with big serves on the next two points, Mayer unable to return either of them, before holding when the German sends a backhand into the net. A fantastic three points from Murray as he holds from break point down to consolidate the early break in this second set.

  16. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 2-0 - BREAK! Murray lofts a backhand lob long to squander a first break point but he does secure the advantage at the second time of asking when Mayer sends a wild backhand sailing long of the baseline. Murray is slowly but surely taking control of this match now.

  17. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) 1-0 - Murray takes a bathroom break at the end of the first set and comes back out for the resumption without his cap. He then eases through his service hold to 15, even throwing in a service winner for good measure. The Brit has really upped his first serve percentage in the last few games.

  18. - - MURRAY 7-6(2) - SET! Murray races out to a 3-0 lead before Mayer even gets on the scoreboard and it is enough to see the Brit cruise towards the rest of the breaker. Murray earns himself six set points with a forehand winner before the German pegs one point back with a forehand passing shot winner down the line. But Murray does wrap up the set at the second set, rattling a backhand winner across court to seal things.

  19. - - MURRAY 6-6 - An absolutely fantastic sliced backhand winner down the line from Murray, which curls away from the court to just catch the very outside of the line. That brings up three game points but Murray only needs the one and he forces the tie-break when Mayer nets a forehand.

  20. - - MURRAY 5-6 - Mayer comes up with a bit of magic on a backhand volley winner across court after anticipating Murray's pass down the line as he holds once again to 15 when the Brit nets a forehand. Murray will have to serve to stay in the set for a second time after the change of ends.

  21. - - MURRAY 5-5 - Murray spins a looping forehand right onto the baseline, forcing Mayer to half-volley his forehand back over the net and allowing Murray to go for the cross court forehand winner on the next shot. The Brit then hold two points later, to 15 when Mayer pushes his forehand long of the baseline.

  22. - - MURRAY 4-5 - Murray takes the first point of the game when Mayer nets a forehand but is left doubled over after another brutal rally complaining "I can't breathe". He is clearly with the conditions out on court and is breathing heavily during the change of ends, going straight to the ice towel. Mayer goes on to hold without dropping another point, working his way into the net for a forehand volley winner.

  23. - - MURRAY 4-4 - Murray's first serve percentage is way down at just 35 per cent at the moment, the Brit even throwing in a double fault in this eighth game. Nonethelss he looks set to complete a 40-15 hold before a sliced inside-out forehand drop shot goes wide across court squanders his first game point. He does wrap the game up at the second attempt though, Mayer sending a forehand sailing long.

  24. - - MURRAY 3-4 - Murray holds for the loss of just the one point, a double fault, to keep the pressure on the Brit and sneak out in front again in this opening set. A big service game coming up for Murray after the change of ends.

  25. - - MURRAY 3-3 - Murray opens up his third service game with an ace before also bringing two points with an ace. Mayer denies him on the first with a cross court shot that the Brit cannot return in play, off the backhand wing. But Murray holds at the second attempt with a great serve that Mayer can only net.

  26. - - MURRAY 2-3 - A sensational drop shot across court from Mayer results in an backhand volley winner across court as, although Murray can get up to the ball in just enough time to play a shot, he can't do much about control. That brings up two game points for the German but he only needs the one to hold for a third time when Murray nets a forehand.

  27. - - MURRAY 2-2 - Murray also eases through a very comfortable second service hold, albeit to 15 rather than love, sealing the game at the second attempt when Mayer forces his way up to the net only to dump his backhand volley into the net.

  28. - - MURRAY 1-2 - A very impressive love service hold from Mayer to help him sneak out in front once again. The German races up to the net on game point, easily seeing the passing shot down the line from Murray and cutting off the ball to put a forehand volley across court for a winner.

  29. - - MURRAY 1-1 - A couple of brutal rallies go the way of Murray as he earns himself a game point when Mayer puts a forehand into the net. And the Brit goes on to hold without the loss of another point as Mayer sends a forehand volley long.

  30. - - MURRAY 0-1 - Murray fails to take advantage of his first break point, hitting long, or his second, netting a forehand. A third chance to break also goes begging for the Brit and in the end Mayer goes on to hold with a forehand stop volley winner.

  31. - - MURRAY 0-0 - Murray has a bit of a gripe at the umpire after he over-rules, Murray's inside out cross court forehand catching the line but being called out from the chair. The Brit successfully challenges before telling the umpire "it's not funny, that was a terrible call". He then has reason to be annoyed a couple of points later when his cross court backhand is called out only to be over-ruled from the chair again. This time though it works to his favour as it brings up a second break point..

  32. - - The players are just about ready to go on Arthur Ashe and it will be Mayer to kick off proceedings by serving first...

  33. - - They have never met on a hard court though so that should provide an interesting element to the early stages of the match. They were actually scheduled to clash at the Shanghai Masters late last year but Mayer withdrew before a ball was hit.

  34. - - These two have faced each other twice before, with Murray winning both of those. But they've not been entirely easy for the world number three, Murray coming back from a set down in the Rome Masters to triumph in three when they first met. And then it required two tie-breaks for Murray to beat the German in their most recent meeting on the clay at the Madrid Masters earlier this year.

  35. - - The Byran brothers have completed a come-from-behind win over Nestor and Pospisil, which means that defending champion Andy Murray is up next on Arthur Ashe. He's taking on his second Mayer of the week - this time Germany's Florian Mayer.
