Crowd Goes Bananas, as Player Does Backflip to Catch Baseball Fan's Lob From Bleachers

A fan got his own taste of what “banana ball” can mean when he was tossing a baseball back and forth with a player during a Savanah Bananas exhibition game in Las Vegas recently.

In the video, Jackson Williams can be seen throwing the ball from the bleachers to the Bananas’ David “Dr” Meadows, who tosses it back. Eventually, as Williams lobs it one last time, Meadows pulls off a backflip while catching the ball. No wonder the Bananas are considered baseball’s answer to the Harlem Globetrotters

Williams told Storyful that Meadows started throwing the ball when he came out to warm up before the second inning.

“He looked around with his hands up as if he needed someone to throw to. I obtained a ball earlier from a pitcher warming up in the outfield, so I used that to play catch with Dr Meadows,” Williams said.

He said that Meadows pointed up just before his last throw. “I knew that meant ‘lob it up,’ so I did!”

Williams said that he did not expect Meadows to do a backflip, and was amazed to see it. The crowd liked it too, judging by their response. Credit: Jackson Williams via Storyful
