Fire torches Manila Central Post Office

STORY: The blaze was escalated to the highest level of alarm at 5:54 a.m. local time on Monday (May 22) and brought under control by dozens of firefighters about 1.5 hours later, said local media.

Located at the bank of the Pasig River, the national landmark was rebuilt in 1946 after it was badly damaged in the Battle of Manila during World War II in 1945.
