'Large' Number of Police Deployed as Israeli Nationalists March in Jerusalem

Security was beefed up in Jerusalem on Thursday, May 18, as thousands of people were expected to take part in an Israeli nationalist march.

Israel Police tweeted: “Large police forces, Israeli Border Police and volunteers were deployed in the city of Jerusalem to secure the various events of Jerusalem Day.”

According to Israeli outlet Haaretz, some participants in the flag parade were chanting “Death to the Arabs” near the Damascus Gate as they prepared to march through the Old City’s Muslim Quarter.

Earlier, Israeli police arrested at least 10 people who they said attempted to disrupt the march.
