Long Line at Guam Gas Station in Wake of Typhoon

A long line of vehicles was seen outside a gas station in Guam on Friday, May 26, amid reports of stations running out following Typhoon Mawar.

Footage shared by Matthew Kirk on Twitter shows vehicles in line along South Marine Corps Drive in Hagatna waiting to enter a Mobil station.

Numerous gas stations on Guam were reported to be out of fuel, in part due to damage at the port. Supplies, however, were said to be adequate.

Super Typhoon Mawar continued to strengthen as it moved west away from Guam towards Taiwan and the northern Philippines, according to the National Weather Service.

When the eye of the storm passed just north of Guam on Wednesday, wind speeds were around 140 mph, but Mawar has since regained strength to become a super typhoon, with winds upwards of 180 mph, the NWS said. Credit: Matthew Kirk via Storyful
