Satellite Images Show Dozens of Wildfires Burning in Canada

Satellite imagery showed thick smoke billowing from dozens of wildfires burning across western Canada on Thursday, May 18.

The wildfire smoke was impacting air quality in some US states, including Washington, Colorado, and Wisconsin, the National Weather Service said. Smoke was visible in South Dakota on Thursday.

As of Friday, there were 94 active wildfires burning in Alberta, 72 active wildfires burning in British Columbia, and 26 active wildfires burning in Saskatchewan, according to official dashboards. Credit: CIRA via Storyful
