Super Typhoon Mawar Continues to Strengthen After Leaving Guam

Super Typhoon Mawar continued to strengthen as it moved west away from Guam towards Taiwan and the northern Philippines late on Thursday, May 25, according to the National Weather Service.

After Mawar regained strength to become a super typhoon earlier in the day, the NWS said wind speeds were upwards of 180 mph on Friday.

When the eye of the storm passed just north of Guam on Wednesday, wind speeds were around 140 mph.
