Wildfire Smoke Swirls Across Western Canada

Satellite imagery shows thick smoke billowing from dozens of wildfires burning across western Canada on Wednesday, May 17.

The wildfire smoke was forecasted to impact the United States “in the coming days,” researchers said.

As of Thursday, there were 92 active wildfires burning in Alberta, 59 active wildfires burning in British Columbia, and 24 active wildfires burning in Saskatchewan, according to official dashboards. Credit: CIRA via Storyful
