NHL Three Stars: Bobrovsky shuts-out Preds; Gaudreau wins it in OT; Price victorious in return

NHL Three Stars: Bobrovsky shuts-out Preds; Gaudreau wins it in OT; Price victorious in return

No. 1 Star: Sergei Bobrovsky, Columbus Blue Jackets

After a rough start to the season, Bobrovsky had one of his best games against the Nashville Predators, shutting them out 4-0. Utilizing every part of his body in his 39 save night, Bob robs James Neal of a sure goal with his left foot:

No. 2 Star: Jeff Petry, Montreal Canadiens

Petry scored 2 goals for the Habs in the 5-3 win over the New York Islanders. The defenseman played a team-high 24:15. His first goal was a backhand knucklepuck past Jaroslav Halak:

No. 3 Star: Johnny Gaudreau, Calgary Flames

Gaudreau should be credited with an assist for his effort on the overtime game winner he scored against Chicago.

Honorable Mention: Nazem Kadri tied the game with less than five minutes to go in the third. Joffrey Lupul scored the game winning shoot-out goal for the Maple Leafs against the Carolina Hurricanes. James Reimer made the save of the game in the shoot-out against Elias Lindholm:

... Ryan Johansen and Boone Jenner had a goal and an assist each for the Blue Jackets ... Carey Price returned to the net for Montreal making 33 saves. Brock Nelson scored 2 goals for the Isles and Travis Hamonic potted his first of the season ... Mike Green picked up his first goal as a member of the Detroit Red Wings in the victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Petr Mrazek made 35 saves. Jeff Carter scored both goals for LA in the 3-2 loss ... Patrick Kane picked up his 31st point of the season with an assist on Artem Anisimov's power play goal. His point scoring streak is now at 15 games ... Leon Draisaitl and Taylor Hall put up 1 goal and 2 assists each in the Oilers 5-1 drubbing of the New Jersey Devils.

Did You Know?

Dishonorable Mention: Byron Froese is checked into the boards and then face-plants on the ice. The result is the picture above this story. Here's the video of the incident:

... Lumbus was limited to four defensemen after Fedor Tyutin and Cody Goloubef left the game with upper-body injuries. Goloubef was taken to a local hospital with a fractured jaw. Shea Weber was a minus-3 in 19:47 TOI ... So, this isn't goaltender interference according to the officials. Carey Price and the Canadiens disagree.

... Jaroslav Halak was replaced by Thomas Greiss after allowing 3 goals on 11 shots ... Kris Russell left the game with an upper-body injury after taking a puck off the hand in the first period ... The Oilers/Devils game was so bad it broke the box score. Enjoy the pictures!
