Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers’ widow heartbreakingly shared that she misses the TV chef “terribly”, two months after his death aged 66.

The beloved TV chef, known for his work alongside friend Si King on the Hairy Bikers, died in February after a two-year battle with cancer.

Lili, who first met the TV chef in 2006, heartbreakingly admitted she misses him “terribly” ahead of Dave Day on June 8, when thousands of bikers will travel from London to Myers's home town of Barrow, raising money for charity.

She told BBC Radio Cumbria: "He was the same person on and off screen.

“Larger than life. I miss him terribly now. I miss that energy."

Lili revealed that the final stages of her husband’s life were challenging, explaining how she would drive him to set before bringing him to his chemotherapy sessions.

Despite this, Myers somehow found the strength to continue filming - something Lili said left her “in awe”.

She said she encouraged Dave to keep filming the series because “it was his life”, adding that they had “made the most of every day together.”

Lili reflected: "It wasn't an easy period of time. I've watched this man die for a couple of years, every day, little by little.”

The couple first crossed paths in Romania while he and pal Si filmed their inaugural series, The Hairy Bikers' Cookbook, in 2006.

When a Romanian producer failed to deliver, Lili came to the rescue.

They kept in contact afterward, with Dave sending emails from various exotic destinations worldwide until they eventually reunited in Barrow.

She said: "I got these beautiful emails from exotic parts of the world, talking to me about the culture, about the food, about the people that he met and that was magical for me.

"It was seeing the world through his eyes. He was a genuinely beautiful man, beautiful soul, and it came across in his emails."

The couple married in 2011 and he became stepfather to her children from a previous relationship.

Lili said of Dave: "He made the most of every moment, and that's what I have learned from him.”
