Khan Defeated By Garcia In Vegas

Questions hang over the future of Amir Khan's boxing career after he was defeated by unbeaten American Danny Garcia in Las Vegas.

The Bolton fighter was knocked down three times and beaten in the fourth round after referee Kevin Bayless stopped the fight.

Garcia takes Khan's WBA light-welterweight belt and holds on to his WBC crown.

Initially, Khan started the brighter, landing punches and moving well in the first and second round.

But the fight was turned on its head in the third when Garcia caught Khan in the neck with a thunderous left hook. Khan clung on for the rest of the round but after taking several more blows in the fourth, the referee had seen enough and ended the contest.

Before heading to hospital for a precautionary scan, Khan admitted: "It wasn't my night."

"After watching the replays a little bit I thought I was coming in with my hands down and Danny took advantage... I respect Danny, he was countering very well against me," he added.

Fellow British boxer Carl Froch suggested Khan should retire but this idea has been dismissed by Khan's promoter, who suggested the 25-year old could move up in weight class.
