Feb 6 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Saturday's National Hockey League games. - - Canadiens 5, Oilers 1 Tomas Plekanec scored a goal and added three assists to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at the Bell Centre. Brendan Gallagher, Lars Eller, P.K. Subban and Tom Gilbert also scored for Montreal (25-24-4), who snapped a four-game losing streak. - - Rangers 3, Flyers 2 (shootout) In a feisty game that featured 48 penalty minutes, the New York Rangers forced overtime in the final seconds of regulation before stealing a 3-2 shootout win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. Mats Zuccarello and center Derek Stepan scored in the shootout to win it. - - Capitals 3, Devils 2 (shootout) Alex Ovechkin scored the deciding goal in a shootout to give the Washington Capitals a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center. Adam Henrique and Joseph Blandisi scored third-period goals to help the Devils erase a 1-0 deficit. - - Red Wings 5, Islanders 1 Dylan Larkin and Tomas Tatar each had a goal and an assist to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-1 win over the New York Islanders at Joe Louis Arena. Tomas Jurco, Kyle Quincey and Mike Green also scored for Detroit, who broke a five-game home losing streak. The Red Wings' last win at Joe Louis Arena came on Dec. 20. - - Penguins 3, Panthers 2 (overtime) The Pittsburgh Penguins got an overtime goal by Kris Letang with 3:33 left to snap the Florida Panthers' five-game win streak, rallying for a 3-2 win at the BB&T Center. Sidney Crosby got the assist and finished with three points, including the 900th of his career. Letang also had three points. - - Senators 6, Maple Leafs 1 The Ottawa Senators snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-1 thumping of the Toronto Maple Leafs at Canadian Tire Centre. Curtis Lazar led the Senators with two goals. Zack Smith, Mika Zibanejad, Bobby Ryan and Mark Stone had the others. - - Bruins 2, Sabres 1 (overtime) Brad Marchand scored on a penalty shot in overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres at TD Garden. The Bruins left winger flipped a backhand shot over Buffalo goaltender Robin Lehner to give Boston a second straight win over their Atlantic Division opponents. - - Blackhawks 5, Stars 1 Artem Anisimov had a goal and three assists and goaltender Corey Crawford stopped 36 shots for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 5-1 victory over the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. Chicago (36-16-4) also got goals from Brent Seabrook, Trevor van Riemsdyk, Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane. - - Predators 6, Sharks 2 Viktor Arvidsson scored twice and Pekka Rinne made 28 saves to lead Nashville over San Jose. James Neal, Filip Forsberg, Shea Weber and Callie Jarnkrok also scored for Nashville, which ended a three-game home losing streak at Bridgestone Arena. - - Blues 4, Wild 1 Paul Stastny scored a goal and assisted on one in a three-goal second period that sent St. Louis over slumping Minnesota. The loss was the fifth in a row for the Wild and dropped them to 1-9-1 in their last 11 games. The four goals for the Blues marked the first time they had scored more than twice in a game since Jan. 18. - - Jets 4, Avalanche 2 Drew Stafford had two goals and an assist, Andrew Ladd also scored and Winnipeg beat Colorado. Michael Hutchinson had 32 saves in his first start in five weeks and Mathieu Perreault scored a goal for the Jets. Winnipeg had lost five of their last six, including a 5-3 setback at home to Carolina on Friday night. Semyon Varlamov made 35 saves in his first game in two weeks. - - Flames 4, Canucks 1 Sean Monahan scored the deciding goal in the third period as Calgary defeated Vancouver. Michael Frolik also scored for Calgary. Mikael Backlund and Sam Bennett both scored into an empty net and each added an assist. Emerson Etem scored late in the third period for the Canucks.
