I tracked down M&S's 'designer' jacket and it looks just as expensive as shoppers say

This is the smart, versatile jacket your wardrobe is missing.

Are you in need of a chic and versatile jacket that effortlessly elevates any outfit? Me too. That's why when I caught wind of Marks & Spencer's Pure Cotton Tweed Collarless Short Jacket making waves on social media, I had to track it down to see what all the fuss is about.

Quick overview

M&S is no stranger to creating trending jackets. Last year, the high street retailer created a chic knitted £35 cardigan that quickly become a sell-out sensation and is now available in four colours. However, the latest Cotton Tweed Collarless Jacket is arguably even better, complete with several luxury finishes to rival that of designer options that cost up to £2,000.

🛍️ Product reviewed: Pure Cotton Tweed Collarless Short Jacket
Rating: 5/5
💸 Reasons to buy: It effortlessly pairs with any outfit from jeans to dresses, and its tailored silhouette exudes sophistication and luxury
Reasons to avoid: At £75, it's pricier than your typical M&S jacket, but the luxury touches justify the cost

Colours available: beige and navy | Sizes: 6 - 24

This luxury-looking jacket is bound to be a staple in your wardrobe for years to come.

£75 at M&S

For starters, the initial £75 price tag did stop me in my tracks as someone who is used to shopping at M&S. Usually, a piece sets me back between £35 and £49, so this jacket is definitely more than the average. However, one glance at the jacket in real life and you can see why.

It's made from 100% cotton and features a chic boucle tweed finish, collarless silhouette, and stylish gold embossed buttons. Additionally, it boasts two patch pockets and is fully lined for added comfort.

One shopper even said it feels 'very Chanel-like for a fraction of the cost,' and I'd have to agree. The jacket has a good weight to it, giving it a luxurious feel and the polished, cropped style adds to its versatility, making it suitable for pairing with pretty much anything.

I often struggle in the jacket department, while I have a ton of classic blazers that are great for wearing with a pair of trousers to the office, when it comes to finding a jacket to wear with a skirt for a night out or a dress to a wedding, I find myself stuck.

Due to the cropped and collarless silhouette of this M&S design, I think you'd struggle to find something this jacket doesn't look good with, whether you wear it done up with a pair of jeans for the office, or thrown over an evening ensemble.

While it's at a higher price point, this is reflected in the high quality and craftsmanship, ensuring it's a classic and easy-to-wear staple that will remain in your wardrobe for years to come.

The jacket comes in two colours: beige and dark navy, and the most difficult decision may be deciding which colour to go for. While the neutral shade really lends itself well to the spring and summer months, the navy is a great year-round option.

Shop the navy jacket

I'm not surprised that several shoppers who have left five-star reviews have returned to buy the other colour, with one shopper stating they've worn the jacket "endlessly". I'm all for investing in a design you love. After all, we all know how hard it is to find that perfect wardrobe staple you look and feel great in.

While I have no criticism, some shoppers are not keen on the buttons, which have a subtle crest-like embossing, so they have changed them. However, this is definitely down to personal taste.
