Prince Harry seems to be getting the cold shoulder from King Charles and Prince William, a royal author has suggested.

The Duke of Sussex's bond with his family has been on thin ice, particularly after he and Meghan Markle decided to step away from their senior royal duties in 2020. Following a series of explosive revelations in interviews and Harry's tell-all memoir Spare released in 2023, the rift appears to have deepened.

A royal commentator has now claimed that both King Charles and Prince William are giving Harry the silent treatment as they grapple with significant issues, including the King and Princess Kate's private health battles with cancer. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Christopher Andersen, who penned The King: The Life of Charles III, said: "[Charles and William] have chosen to ignore Harry, to freeze him out, and to not let him get under their skin when they are facing so many critical challenges.

"In a way, I think that is even sadder. It's been said that hate isn't the opposite of love indifference is," reports the Mirror.

He also suggested that King Charles and Prince William are "not surprised" by Harry's recent trip to Nigeria, which has been compared to a royal tour with his wife Meghan. However, Andersen stated that Charles and William have "crossed Harry off their list for a multitude of reasons, but making a brief trip with one reporter and one photographer in tow isn't one of them".

The tension between Harry and his father seems to persist, as Harry's recent UK visit to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games did not include any meetings with his royal relatives. While Harry was at a celebration at St Paul's Cathedral, his father was mingling with the public at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

The Duke's spokesperson said Charles' "full programme" of engagements prevented a face-to-face meeting, meaning they haven't physically spoken since Harry visited his father after his cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Prince William and Princess Kate also didn't meet with Harry during his short UK visit, with sources close to the couple telling The Daily Beast last month: "Both sides understand each other's position clearly now.

"William and Catherine felt completely betrayed by Harry's memoir. They don't speak to Harry and Meghan, and they are certainly not about to start when Catherine is at her most vulnerable."

An insider revealed to the outlet: "William and Kate have accepted it and moved on. Cancer puts things in perspective. William respects his father's wish to reconcile with his son, but his focus now is on protecting his family from stressful situations."
