Alexander Sarnavskiy's Title Shot On the Line at Bellator 136

Alexander Sarnavskiy's Title Shot On the Line at Bellator 136

“If I beat Marcin Held, I will fight for the title. My next fight will be a title match,” Bellator lightweight contender Alexander Sarnavskiy (30-2) recently told MMAWeekly.com. “That’s what we were told.”

With a title shot hanging in the balance, Sarnavskiy knows he has to bring his A-game when he faces Marcin Held at Bellator 136 on Friday.

“He’s one of the best fighters at lightweight that Bellator has. What makes him so dangerous is he’s good at everything, although, his specialty is leg locks,” said the 26-year-old Russian about his upcoming opponent. “You don’t know what to expect from him.”

While Held is a leg-lock expert, Sarnavskiy isn’t exactly a fish out of water on the ground. Eighteen of his wins are by submission, but he’s prepared for wherever the fight might go.

“Obviously, we did a lot of defense against leg locks. However, because Marcin is such a good fighter in different areas, we worked on everything,” said Sarnavskiy. “You have to have a full package. You have to be completely prepared.”

“Tiger” doesn’t know how the fight against Held will end, but he’s going to be looking to finish the Poland native.

“It’s tough to say,” he said when asked if he had a prediction. “It’s going to be a tough fight. Of course, I’d like to finish him. I don’t care if it’s a knockout or a submission. I want to finish him.”
