UFC on FOX 21 Results: Anthony Pettis Wins Featherweight Debut; Aims for Conor McGregor's Belt

During the UFC 185 main event on March 14, former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis complained that he couldn’t see out of his right eye during his championship bout against Rafael dos Anjos.

After the fight, UFC president Dana White said Pettis had to have several stitches for a cut around the eye and that he had suffered a concussion. In a Wednesday report on UFC Tonight, it was confirmed that Pettis also suffered a broken orbital bone in his title loss.

Pettis took a hard shot to the eye early on in the fight, after which he had trouble with his vision and “just didn't feel right” for the rest of the fight. That is likely when the injury occurred.

The event took place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday and Pettis was unable to leave Texas until Tuesday due to the injury. The 28-year-old will be out of action for six weeks.

Pettis won the lightweight title at UFC 164 by defeating Benson Henderson. He defended the title one time against Gilbert Melendez at UFC 181 before losing it to dos Anjos.
