Chad Mendes won’t be fighting on the UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche fight card.

Mendes was originally scheduled to face Manny Gamburyan at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Feb. 23, but injuries forced Gamburyan out of the bout.

“(I was) training with fractured elbow for three months,” said Gamburyan. “I was in pain every practice, but I didn't know it was this serious, plus now I got a broken thumb.”

Matchmakers were unable to find a replacement for Gamburyan, so Mendes was removed from the card.

Mendes confirmed the news via his Twitter account.

“Well guys it looks like I'm off the Anaheim card. Sucks pretty bad,” Mendes tweeted on Sunday. “Manny was injured and no one would step up.”

Mendes’ only loss in the UFC is to featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 142. Since the loss, Mendes has strung together back-to-back wins and is considered a top contender in the 145-pound weight class.
