Cole Miller vs. Max Hollaway Tops First Three UFC Fight Night Colorado Bouts

Alex Caceres Replaces BJ Penn, Faces Cole Miller at UFC 199

The UFC is about to unveil its full schedule for 2015, but recently announced a UFC Fight Night event for its return to the Mile High City in February.

On Monday, UFC officials announced the first three bouts that have been verbally agreed to for the Valentine’s Day event at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo., on the outskirts of Denver.

Highly regarded featherweights Cole Miller and Max Holloway will fight on the card, as will flyweight contenders Zach Makovsky and Tim Elliott, and flyweight up-and-comers Ray Borg and Chris Kelades.

Miller (21-8) was supposed to have fought red-hot Conor McGregor in Dublin over the summer, but had to pull out of the fight due to injury. He is coming off of back-to-back victories over Andy Ogle and Sam Sicilia, but hasn’t fought since January.

He’ll square off with Holloway (11-3), who is riding a four-fight winning streak. He most recently knocked out Akira Corassani in early October.

Miller and Holloway are both known for their exciting efforts and have a laundry list of post-fight awards on their combined resumes.

Makovsky (18-5) is no stranger to the 1stBank Center, having won the RFA flyweight championship there before making the leap to the UFC. He has since gone 2-1 in the Octagon, but is looking to rebound from a loss to fellow flyweight contender Jussier Formiga.

At 10-5-1, Elliott is no slouch either, but has stumbled in his last two efforts, losing to Ali Bagautinov and Joseph Benavidez, two of the top fighters in the UFC’s 125-pound division.

The announcements were rounded out by the Borg vs. Kelades bout, a fight between two men that UFC officials are looking to in the next wave of flyweight contenders.
