Cook heaps praise on 'outstanding' Anderson post second Test win over Windies

Johannesburg, Apr 27 (ANI): England captain Alastair Cook has lavished praise on pace spearhead James Anderson, describing the seam bowler as 'outstanding' for producing a blistering spell during the final day which saw their side eventually claiming a nine-wicket win over West Indies in the second Test in Grenada. Resuming the play on the fifth day, the game appeared to be heading towards a draw but Anderson delivered a fearsome spell as he scalped three West Indies batsmen with the second new ball, including Kraigg Brathwaite for 116. After bundling out the hosts for 307, with a lead of 142, England chased down the target with ease as skipper Cook and Gary Ballance remained unbeaten on 59 and 81 to clinch their first victory in the three-match Test series. Cook said that the new ball was really crucial as it was all about trying to put the ball in the right areas, adding that credit should go to Anderson for his outstanding spell, Sport24 reported. The skipper also said that he couldn't fault his team-mates as it was a tough wicket to get any kind of result. Cook insisted that they showed a great effort, down to attitude, character and a lot of skills to get 20 wickets. The third and final Test will commence on Friday in Barbados. (ANI)
