Football - Evans reveals contract clauses

Rotherham manager Steve Evans has revealed most out-of-contract players cannot walk away from the club this season.

The Millers have a significant contingent of their squad who signed two-year deals in the summer of 2012, including Michael O'Connor, Kari Arnason, Craig Morgan and Kieran Agard.

Evans is yet to get to the negotiating table regarding fresh deals, but has options built into some contracts to extend if he wishes.

"There's not many that could walk out of this football club unless it's through the choice of Rotherham United because there are options in contracts, without me being specific about certain players," he said.

The Millers are going for promotion to the Championship, though look likely to have to do it through the play-offs, and Evans admits the Millers will address their options when they know which league they will be in next season.

"If we are in the Championship versus League One would that change the thought process, yes of course it would," he added.

"Even if we are in League One it looks like it will be a tougher league, with the teams coming down and cash-rich clubs coming up.

"We are going to have to look at it and make sure we get great value for money."
