Football - Ferdinand out for season

Cheltenham's survival hopes have been dealt a blow by the news that Kane Ferdinand has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The midfielder, on loan from Peterborough, suffered a double fracture to the cheek during a training ground collision and may require surgery.

The 22-year-old joined the club in November and has made 16 appearances but has failed to help the side climb away from the relegation places, with a run of six games without a win leaving Cheltenham bottom of Sky Bet League Two but just two points from safety.
