Bradley Walsh was left gobsmacked by a contestant's remark during an important decision making moment for his team on The Chase.

During Tuesday night's episode of the ITV show, four new challengers named Minh, Del, Steve and Katie stepped up to the task to go head to head with Mark Labbett, better known as The Beast.

Minh started things off with a bang, securing £5,000 and breezing past the Beast into the final chase with Del and Steve following his lead.

Katie was determined to join her team mates for the final chase and managed to rack up £4,000 in her cash builder question round.

The Beast tempted her with a high offer of £63,000 to move one step closer to him or a lower offer of minus £5,000 to edge towards the final round with the others, the Express reports.

Minus offers are often frowned upon on the show, unless necessary so the studio was filled with tension when Steve told Katie to consider the negative offer.

Bradley Walsh was left visibly stunned by the contestant's advice as chaser Mark joked: "That caused him physical pain. Medic!".

Viewers appeared to be equally as baffled by Steve's suggestion with one commenting: "Steve's a maverick, -£5,000 really!" while another fumed: "Bloody hell Steve!"

All four of the contestants were successful in making it through to the final chase where they took on The Beast one more time as a team.

Despite Steve's controversial comment, Katie made it through too, prompting Bradley to pull Steve up about his earlier suggestion as he said sternly: "I'm going to be serious now. Steve, minus!"

The team four had their sights set on a £21,000 prize and managed to successfully move forward 17 steps.

However, their efforts were not good enough as they were caught by the Beast with 22 seconds on the clock, meaning they walked away with nothing.

The Chase continues weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
