Jessica Eye and Leslie Smith Agree to Take a Trip to Mexico

Jessica “Evil” Eye and Leslie Smith have verbally agreed to square off in the Octagon when the promotion launches its first-ever event in Mexico, according to UFC officials.

Eye vs. Smith joins the UFC 180 fight card on Nov. 15 in Mexico City, where heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez returns to put his belt on the line against Fabricio Werdum.

Eye (10-2, 1 NC) has had a tumultuous tenure in the UFC. She initially won a controversial split-decision victory over Sarah Kaufman in her Octagon debut, but the bout was later ruled a no-contest when it was revealed that Eye had tested positive for marijuana. She lost a split decision outright to Alexis Davis in her second UFC bout, leaving her to try and rebound in Mexico.

Smith (7-5-1) is a former Invicta FC flyweight title challenger, who made the move up to 135 pounds to get a shot in the UFC. She has gone 1-1 in her two UFC bouts, losing her debut to Kaufman before stopping Jessamyn Duke in her sophomore effort. Smith will look to Eye to build some momentum.
