Joe Lauzon Out Against Diego Sanchez as UFC 180 Suffers Another Blow

Two days after the UFC’s inaugural event in Mexico, UFC 180, lost its main event, the fight card was hit with another blow. Joe Lauzon has been forced out of his scheduled fight against Diego Sanchez for undisclosed reasons.

Sanchez was originally set to face Norman Parke, but Parke pulled out of the fight after suffering a knee injury in October. Lauzon was quickly named as his replacement. The fight was expected to be a leading candidate for Fight of the Night honors at the Nov. 15 event, the UFC's first event in Mexico.

Sanchez (25-7) has been left without a UFC 180 opponent for the second time, as the promotion tries to find another replacement with just three weeks before fight day.

Lauzon (24-9) is on a two-fight winning streak. He last competed on Sept. 5, defeating Michael Chiesa by technical knockout.

UFC 180 takes place at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City on Nov. 15. A heavyweight interim title fight between Fabricio Werdum and Mark Hunt headline the event.
