Junior dos Santos vs. Stipe Miocic Headline UFC on Fox 13 on Dec. 13 in Phoenix

UFC Fight Night 86 Results: Junior dos Santos Dominates Ben Rothwell, Leaves Him Bloodied and Swollen

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos returns to action on Dec. 13 at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, taking on Stipe Miocic in the UFC on Fox 13 main event.

Dos Santos (16-3) arrived in the UFC in October 2008 and made an immediate statement by scoring a first-round knockout of Fabricio Werdum. He won his next six fights, earning a shot at the heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. He made the most of the opportunity and captured the belt by knocking out Velasquez in 64 seconds.

The Brazilian defended his title once against former titleholder Frank Mir before being lined up in a rematch with Velasquez at UFC 155. Velasquez avenged the previously loss by defeating dos Santos in a one-sided unanimous decision. Dos Santos rebounded from the loss with a KO finish of Mark Hunt at UFC 160, setting up a trilogy fight with Velasquez at UFC 166. The champion finished dos Santos late in the fight by technical knockout.

Miocic (12-1) is riding a three-fight winning streak and hopes to earn a shot at the heavyweight crown by defeating the former champion. The Ohio native debuted in the UFC in October 2011 and reeled off three consecutive wins before losing to Stefan Struve in 2012. Since the loss, the 32-year-old has logged wins over Roy Nelson, Gabriel Gonzaga and Fabio Maldonado.

UFC on Fox 13 takes place on Dec. 13 in Phoenix. Heavyweights Alistair Overeem faces Stefan Struve in the co-main event.
